Position Description Position OverviewThe Machinist in Applied Medical's Advanced Metals Processing department plays a direct role in producing high-quality precision components that support the company's manufacturing operations. This position sets up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) machines, manages tooling, interprets technical blueprints, and performs first article inspections to ensure parts meet specified tolerances.

The Machinist works within a team-oriented machining environment where precision, setup expertise, and adherence to quality standards drive daily work. Professionals with backgrounds in CNC machining, precision machining, or machine shop operations will find this role well-suited to their experience. This position requires availability to work flexible and extended hours across first, second, or third shift, including weekends, as production needs dictate. Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring precise alignment and configuration within specifications prior to production runs.</li><li>Manage tool changes and make offset adjustments to maintain accurate machining processes, conducting routine checks on tool condition throughout production.</li><li>Read and interpret blueprint dimensions accurately to manufacture parts within specification.</li><li>Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts conform to blueprint requirements.</li><li>Apply basic machine shop math skills to perform calculations that support accurate part production.</li><li>Adhere to machining policies, Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO standards, and safety guidelines, promptly reporting and resolving non-compliance issues.</li><li>Prioritize workload effectively to meet production schedules and support overall manufacturing output.</li><li>Communicate technical information clearly and collaborate with team members on problem-solving.</li></ul>Success in This Role Looks Like<ul><li>Consistently produces precision components that meet quality standards and conform to blueprint specifications.</li><li>Executes machine setups accurately and efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting uninterrupted production.</li><li>Completes First Article Inspections with a high degree of accuracy, reducing rework and production delays.</li><li>Maintains full compliance with QSR, ISO standards, and safety requirements at all times.</li><li>Manages time and priorities effectively to support on-time delivery within a fast-paced production environment.</li><li>Contributes to a collaborative team environment by communicating clearly and supporting shared production goals.</li></ul> Position Requirements This position requires the following skills and attributes:<ul><li>Ability to set up and operate CNC machines with precision and thoroughness to meet quality standards in a production environment</li><li>Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and manufacture parts within specifications</li><li>Basic machine shop math skills and ability to perform related calculations</li><li>Experience performing First Article Inspection using precision measuring instruments</li><li>Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing the highest quality finished components</li><li>Effective communication skills to convey technical information and collaborate on problem-solving</li><li>Strong time management and prioritization skills to meet production schedules</li><li>Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, and earplugs</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment</li></ul> Preferred The following skills and attributes are preferred:<ul><li>Experience operating any of the following machines: Bruderer, Star, Citizen, Deco, Makino, or Matsuura</li><li>Willingness to explore innovative machining techniques and emerging manufacturing technologies</li><li>Ability to adapt quickly to changes in machining processes or equipment</li></ul> If you are looking to embark on a career path that blends craftmanship with innovation, we invite you to apply and join a journey of excellence at Applied Medical.
