Position Description The Extrusion Technician plays a key role in supporting Applied Medical’s manufacturing operations through the precise setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced extrusion equipment. This position directly contributes to the production of high-quality medical devices and components.

The Extrusion Technician ensures the consistency, safety, and efficiency of extrusion processes that uphold Applied Medical’s standards for innovation and manufacturing excellence. Key Responsibilities<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Set up and operate extrusion equipment to manufacture high-quality components that meet strict dimensional and performance specifications.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Monitor extrusion processes by tracking temperature, pressure, line speed, and material feed to ensure consistent output and prevent defects.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Perform equipment troubleshooting and maintenance to resolve mechanical or process issues, reduce downtime, and maintain production efficiency.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Inspect and verify quality of extruded products using calibrated tools such as calipers, pin gauges, and rulers, ensuring compliance with design and regulatory requirements.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and engineering to implement process improvements and maintain smooth operations.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Document production data and adjustments accurately to support traceability, continuous improvement, and compliance with ISO and Quality System Regulation (QSR) standards.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following established safety procedures and promptly addressing any non-conformance or equipment concerns.</li></ul>Success in This Role Looks Like<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Maintaining consistent extrusion quality that meets or exceeds product specifications and regulatory requirements.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Collaborating effectively with team members to identify process enhancements and improve manufacturing efficiency.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Demonstrating initiative in problem-solving and minimizing equipment downtime.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Supporting Applied Medical’s mission to deliver innovative, high-quality medical devices that advance patient care.</li></ul> Position Requirements This position requires the following skills and attributes:<ul><li>Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and adjust extrusion machinery.</li><li>Skilled in using calibrated measuring instruments to verify product dimensions.</li><li>Proven attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.</li><li>Ability to interpret blueprints and manufacturing specifications.</li><li>Willingness to learn new tooling, extrusion techniques, and materials.</li><li>Flexibility to work varied or extended hours to meet production schedules.</li><li>Understanding of or ability to learn applicable quality and safety regulations, including QSR and ISO standards.</li></ul> Preferred The following skills and attributes are preferred: <ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">Prior experience operating extrusion or plastics processing equipment in a manufacturing environment.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">Familiarity with medical device manufacturing, ISO 13485 standards, or FDA Quality System Regulation (QSR) requirements.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">Experience applying Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">Technical training or coursework in manufacturing technology, mechanical systems, or related disciplines.</li></ul> Benefits <ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li style="color: #212121;">Competitive compensation range: $28 - $32 / hour (California).</li><li style="color: #212121;">Comprehensive benefits package.</li><li style="color: #212121;">Training and mentorship opportunities.</li><li style="color: #212121;">On-campus wellness activities.</li><li style="color: #212121;">Education reimbursement program.</li><li style="color: #212121;">401(k) program with discretionary employer match.</li><li style="color: #212121;">Generous vacation accrual and paid holiday schedule.</li></ul>Please note that the compensation range may be adjusted in the future, and bonus and incentive compensation plans may apply.
