We are currently seeking a laboratory assistant to join our team. Role holders will assist our dedicated team of medical technologists with pre-analytical activities and tasks related to our advanced molecular UTI testing. This role provides an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience in a laboratory environment for anyone pursuing licensure as a Medical Lab Technologist or Technician.
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour, DOE
10% night differential
2 weeks vacation + 1 week of sick time off per year (more with service milestones)

Assists with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens
Performs administrative tasks related to laboratory record-keeping
Works closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately
Escalates issues or concerns to laboratory technologist or supervisor
Assists with preventative maintenance activities for laboratory equipment and instruments
Monitors reagent and supply inventory
Prepares laboratory reagents and assay materials according to SOPs, standard laboratory recipes/formulas under technologist supervision
Organizes patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review
Uses LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments Assists in updating laboratory documents and departmental forms
Required to follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field is highly preferred
At least 1 year of related experience working in a CLIA/CAP environment is preferred
Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Must be able to tolerate a moderate noise level
Must be able to work an extended schedule as needed.
Long periods of standing, must be able to bend at the waist and knee, occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
This role requires consistent use of PPE, including face mask/shield as appropriate, lab coat, non-latex gloves, due to required handling of potentially infectious biological substances, fixatives, and other chemicals
