
To direct, control and administer the financial activities of the organization, and provide the General Manager with financial assessments and information which will ensure planning and budgeting activities meet corporate goals.
Manage broader functions including FP&A, Accounting, Controllership, Demand Planning, and AR management.
Participate as a member of the Japan Leadership Team and JAPAC Finance LT.
In consultation with the other senior management, make recommendations and devise financial policy and strategy for establishing, directing and maintaining the organization’s financial and operational procedures to ensure asset protection and profit maximization
Performing all related people management activities, including regular coaching, development and feedback discussions, performance reviews and implementing performance improvement strategies where necessary. Manage succession plans in coordination with HR.
Create a positive team environment through the demonstration of strong leadership behaviors, including communicating expectations clearly, instilling an atmosphere of trust and respect, and leading by example
Provide superior analytical support to Japan Management Team.
Analysis of monthly results
Comprehensive quarterly financial reporting
Consolidation and analytical review of forecasts and development of sensitivities
Oversee the Strategic Planning process
Oversee the Budget/Marketing Plan process
Ensuring the timely and accurate submission of internal and external reporting requirements
Ensure accurate and efficient management of the customer rebate process
Ensure financial decisions and process are fully compliant with internal and external regulatory bodies and legislation.
Work with Corporate Internal Audit to develop and implement appropriate controls to ensure SOX equivalent compliance
Manage internal and external taxation advisors and auditors
Promote and educate financial awareness throughout the organization ensuring that the appropriate finance input is considered in all key decisions
Control and co-ordinate activities such as taxation, credit policy, financing and investment policy, costing and expense control, preparation of tenders, audits, administration of contracts, insurance arrangements and property administration
Represent the organization in finance related dealings with the organization’s bankers, legal advisers, major customers and others as required
In order to provide direction on business improvement priorities for achievement of business goals, participate in the executive S & OP review of performance
In conjunction with the Managing Director, establish a strategic plan that contributes towards the target and risk management procedure
Ensure that local business development opportunities are actioned in an effective and timely manner, including participating in negotiating agreements with corporate accounts
Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per Allergan’s policies and procedures
Support Allergan’s Quality Management System and internal auditing processes.
Proactively participate in Allergan’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times.
Adhere to Allergan’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested.
Successful completion of relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, including Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant certification
Completion of an MBA desirable
Minimum twelve years working experience within the Finance function, at least five of which in senior roles
Previous people management experience
Experience working within the pharmaceutical industry is desirable
Strong business acumen complimented by strategic thinking skills
Expert understanding of financial reports / budgets / sales forecasts
High level of numeracy accuracy and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop a team atmosphere and work cooperatively with other teams
Ability to prioritize and work under pressure within strict deadlines
Professional written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
