Senior Software Engineer

You will also be responsible for analyzing product/system-level requirements and translating them into software requirements, as well as the deployment and delivery of specific software features and functionality.

Experience developing software sold directly to customers is required.<em> (This is not an IT position.)</em></p><p> </p><p><em>**This is position is located in Vernon Hills, IL with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. </em></p><p> </p></div></div><div style='padding: 10px 0px;border: 1px solid transparent;'><div style='font-size:16px;word-wrap: break-word;'><H2 style='font-size: 1em; margin: 0px'><b>What You'll Do as a Senior Software Engineer</b></H2></div><div><ul><li>Contributes to cross functional project planning, development, and analysis of product requirements, and proposed solutions.</li><li>Refine and refactor the software design based on the system architecture and new product requirements.</li><li>Designs, documents, implements, and maintains efficient, reusable, secure, and reliable software code according to corporate and department standards and procedures for new and sustaining engineering projects, maintaining code quality, organization, and automation.</li><li>Creates software development process documentation, including requirements, design and interface specifications and verification documentation.</li><li>Develops time and effort estimates for features and functions.</li><li>Develops and performs unit, integration, and/or system testing of applications as required.</li><li>Participates in design reviews to identify issues and provides recommendations for enhancements.</li><li>Works independently on routine activities, issues, plans, and larger-scale designs.</li><li>Will act as a mentor to junior engineers although not directly responsible for their management.</li><li>Identifies bottlenecks and bugs, and devises solutions to these problems.</li><li>Reviews and resolves software defect and change requests.</li><li>Reviews and approves plans and detailed designs.</li></ul></div></div><div style='padding: 10px 0px;border: 1px solid transparent;'><div style='font-size:16px;word-wrap: break-word;'><H2 style='font-size: 1em; margin: 0px'><b>The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed</b></H2></div><div><p>Required:</p><ul><li>Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>8+ years design and development of software systems for web, mobile, cloud (Azure) and desktop including C#/.Net, Microsoft Full Stack. </li><li>8+ years experience developing commercial software products sold to external businesses (B2B).</li><li>Strong understanding of software development principles and design patterns.</li><li>Experience with agile development methodologies.</li><li>Experience with Git or DevOps version control.</li><li>Experience with configuration management, continuous integration(CI), continuous deployment(CD), and automated code analysis tools is desired.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Preferred: </p><ul><li>Master's degree desired.</li><li>Experience with containerization tools is desired.</li><li>Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.</li><li>Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering productivity practices.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Other:</p><ul><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Strong communication and teamwork abilities.</li><li>Working knowledge of MFC, Java, React.</li></ul></div></div><div style='padding: 10px 0px;border: 1px solid transparent;'><div style='font-size:16px;word-wrap: break-word;'><H2 style='font-size: 1em; margin: 0px'><b>What STERIS Offers</b></H2></div><div><p>We value our employees and are committed to providing a comprehensive benefits package that supports your health, well-being and financial future.</p><p><br />Here is a brief overview of what we offer: </p><p><br />Market Competitive Pay<br />Extensive Paid Time Off and (9) added Holidays<br />Excellent Healthcare, Dental and Vision Benefits<br />Long/Short Term Disability Coverage<br />401(k) with a company match<br />Maternity and Paternity Leave<br />Additional add-on benefits/discounts for programs such as Pet Insurance<br />Tuition Reimbursement and continued education programs<br />Excellent opportunities for advancement in a stable long-term career</p><p>#LI-KK1</p></div></div></div> <p>Pay range for this opportunity is $108,000 - $127,000. <span style="color:black"> This position is also eligible for bonus participation.</span></p><p> </p><p>Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.
