Responsibilities Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and Engineering teams to define next-generation liquid chromatography products and customer solutions. Translate customer, business, and market needs into clear, testable, and traceable system
requirements. Develop and maintain system
requirements, product
requirements, interface definitions, and traceability documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. Partner with software, electrical, mechanical, scientific, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative system-level solutions. Support system architecture development and technical decision-making by evaluating design alternatives, tradeoffs, and risks. Lead cross-functional discussions to align
requirements, resolve technical challenges, and drive project execution. Develop system verification and validation strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria. Perform hands-on testing, integration, troubleshooting, and performance characterization of prototype and production systems. Investigate system-level issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to resolution. Support risk management activities by identifying technical risks and developing mitigation strategies. Promote systems engineering best practices including
requirements management, systems integration, design verification, and traceability. Provide technical leadership within project teams and mentor junior engineers in systems engineering methodologies. Support successful commercialization of industry-leading chromatography solutions from concept through product launch.
Required
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline. 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, product development, analytical instrumentation, or multidisciplinary engineering environments. Demonstrated experience developing complex hardware and software products from concept through commercialization. Experience translating customer needs and business objectives into system
requirements and product capabilities. Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines, including software, electrical, mechanical, and scientific teams. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including
requirements development,
requirements decomposition, traceability, integration, verification, validation, and risk management. Experience planning and executing system-level testing and troubleshooting activities. Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across organizational boundaries. Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence outcomes without direct authority.
Preferred
Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field. Direct experience designing, developing, integrating, servicing, supporting, or operating HPLC, UHPLC, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, or other analytical instrumentation platforms strongly preferred. Strong understanding of chromatography workflows, laboratory operations, and customer applications in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, food, environmental, or clinical markets. Experience developing complex electromechanical products involving fluidics, sensors, automation, software, firmware, and data systems. Experience with system architecture, technology development, and new product introduction activities. Familiarity with cybersecurity, connectivity, cloud-enabled products, laboratory informatics, and data management platforms. Experience with Design Controls, Risk Management, Verification & Validation, and regulated product development processes. Experience using
requirements management and systems engineering tools such as Jama, DOORS, Polarion, Azure DevOps, or equivalent. Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional technical activities. Knowledge of liquid chromatography system design considerations such as solvent delivery, sample management, detector technologies, thermal management, and laboratory workflow integration.
