The Sample Receipt Officer is responsible for the receipt and registration of customer samples, liaising with customers and laboratory staff, and ensuring all customer, operational and quality requirements are met.
Reporting to the Analytical Services Manager, the role will focus on the following duties:
Receiving deliveries and checking if samples and products meet the customer and testing requirements.
Entering sample data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and precisely documenting all data, storage needs, and analytical specifications provided by the client.
Completing all quality control and quarantine records in compliance with the quality standards and work instructions pertaining to sample receipt.
Sorting, packing, labelling, and distributing samples and other items as required, internally and externally. Ensuring that samples are delivered to the respective laboratory areas in a timely manner to meet analytical holding times and to support the achievement of improved customer turnaround times.
Liaising with Analytical Services Officer and Analytical Services Manager to contact clients regarding sample submissions and other related queries, as well as organising courier pick-ups for samples or sample containers sent externally.
Liaising with the laboratory personnel regarding sample submissions and customer requirements and inquiries.
TAFE Laboratory certification would be advantageous.
Experience working within an administration role or similar will be highly regarded.
Experience working within a laboratory environment will be preferred, but not essential.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with LIMS platforms will be highly regarded.
Able to work as part of a team or to work independently when required.
Strong administration and data entry skills and excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Proven organisational skills with an ability to follow procedures.
