Role Overview As a Data Migration resource specializing in SAP MDG, you will oversee the end-to-end data migration process, ensuring the seamless transfer of master and transactional data from legacy systems to SAP S/4HANA. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, develop migration strategies, and ensure data quality and governance standards are met. What will you do in this role Data Migration Strategy & Planning Develop and implement comprehensive data migration strategies, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Define data mapping rules, transformation logic, and validation criteria to ensure accurate data migration. Establish timelines, milestones, and resource plans for migration activities. Data Quality & Governance Collaborate with data stewards to assess data quality and implement cleansing measures.
Ensure adherence to data governance policies and standards throughout the migration process. Conduct data validation and reconciliation to verify data integrity post-migration. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Work closely with business units, IT teams, and external vendors to gather data requirements and address migration challenges.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on migration progress, risks, and issues. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate users on new data structures and governance practices. Technical Execution Manage the technical execution of data migration activities, utilizing ETL tool Syniti-ADM.
Troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Document migration processes, methodologies, and lessons learned for future reference. Post-Migration Support Provide support during the cutover phase and post-go-live hyper care period.
Monitor data performance and address any issues related to data quality or system integration. Assist in the development of ongoing data governance frameworks to maintain data integrity. What should you have Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data migration, with at least 3 years focusing on SAP MDG implementations.
Proven experience in managing data migration projects, including planning, execution, and post-migration support. Hands-on experience with SAP MDG modules and integration with other SAP systems. Required Skills Minimum 5 years of experience in data migration, with exposure to SAP MDG or S/4HANA environments.
Hands-on involvement in data migration lifecycle activities including data extraction, transformation, load, and validation. SAP & Data Knowledge: Basic to moderate understanding of SAP MDG and master data objects (e.g., material, customer, vendor). Familiarity with integration between SAP systems in a migration context.
Data Migration Tools: Working knowledge of Syniti ADM, SAP Data Services (BODS), or SAP Migration Cockpit. Technical Skills: Understanding of ETL concepts, data mapping, data cleansing, and validation techniques. Experience in data reconciliation and issue resolution during migration cycles.
Data Quality & Governance: Awareness of data governance principles, data quality checks, and validation rules. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data issues, identify inconsistencies, and support resolution activities. Primary Skills Industry Exposure: Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or technology industries is advantageous.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business users and technical teams. Communication: Good communication skills for documenting and explaining migration requirements and issues. Learning Agility: Willingness to learn new tools, migration strategies, and SAP MDG capabilities.
Project Exposure: Participation in Agile or hybrid delivery models and exposure to structured project methodologies. Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying risks, troubleshooting migration issues, and supporting resolution. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Continuous Improvement: Interest in optimizing migration processes and improving data quality practices.
