Career Category Information Systems Job Description What You Will Do Let's do this. Let's change the world! In this vital role, the L5 Product Owner / Scrum Master will serve as the primary Product Owner and Agile delivery lead for the India-based AIN team supporting the SAGE program.
The role combines hands-on backlog ownership and requirement clarification with Scrum Master facilitation, delivery leadership, and Agile coaching to enable clear priorities, predictable execution, and high-quality outcomes. Working across business, product, engineering, architecture, data science, QA, and leadership, the role will translate business and technical priorities into actionable work, maintain stakeholder alignment, remove impediments, coordinate dependencies, and strengthen the team's ways of working. How You Will Do It Product Ownership & Backlog Own and maintain the AIN team backlog, including prioritization, user stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and development readiness.
Translate business and technical priorities into actionable work and align sprint goals and delivery commitments to business outcomes. Serve as the bridge between business and technology, clarifying ambiguous requirements and communicating complex technical topics in business terms. Agile Delivery & Team Effectiveness Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and PI/quarterly planning as applicable.
Remove impediments, manage risks and cross-team dependencies, and coordinate across global teams and time zones to keep delivery moving. Coach the team on Agile and SAFe practices, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and effective ways of working. Flow, Metrics & Continuous Improvement Improve flow and predictability by managing work in progress, spillover, capacity, bottlenecks, and delivery dependencies.
Use metrics such as velocity, burndown, sprint goal attainment, cycle time, throughput, and predictability to improve transparency and decision-making. Drive actionable retrospectives and follow through on improvement opportunities across sprints. Release & Stakeholder Coordination Support release planning, UAT coordination, production readiness, and stakeholder communications, ensuring risks, quality, dependencies, and operational readiness are addressed.
Maintain clear visibility into priorities, progress, blockers, decisions, and expected outcomes for business and technical stakeholders. Success in This Role Success will be measured by the ability to enable a predictable, transparent, high-performing AIN team that consistently delivers meaningful business outcomes for SAGE. Indicators of success include: The AIN backlog is well-groomed, prioritized, actionable, and ready for execution.
User stories and acceptance criteria provide sufficient clarity for development and testing. Sprint ceremonies are effective, consistent, and outcome-focused. Sprint goals and delivery commitments are clear and aligned to business priorities.
Delivery risks, dependencies, and blockers are identified and addressed early. Work progresses through the delivery lifecycle with reduced friction and unnecessary spillover. Stakeholders have clear visibility into team priorities, progress, risks, and expected outcomes.
Releases, UAT activities, and production readiness are effectively coordinated. The team delivers predictable, high-quality outcomes. Agile metrics are used effectively to improve flow, quality, transparency, and decision-making.
Continuous-improvement actions are identified, implemented, and measured across sprints. The team demonstrates increasing accountability, collaboration, and delivery effectiveness. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree with 8–12 years of experience in Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.
Experience in Agile delivery roles such as Product Owner, Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Business Analyst, or similar. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum practices and software delivery lifecycles. Experience working with engineering, QA, product, business, and other cross-functional teams.
Experience managing priorities, delivery risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations. Experience working with globally distributed teams and across multiple time zones. Preferred Qualifications Technical thought leadership.
Ability to communicate technical or complex subject matters in business terms. Experience writing and refining user stories, acceptance criteria, requirements, and product backlogs. Jira Align experience.
Miro experience. Workshop facilitation experience. Experience working with India-based delivery teams.
Experience supporting enterprise platforms, digital products, analytics initiatives, data products, AI-enabled solutions, or large-scale transformation programs. Familiarity with Agentic AI, Databricks, or related data and development technologies. Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other regulated-industry environments.
Experience supporting organizational change and digital transformation initiatives. Functional Skills Must-Have Strong expertise in Agile methodologies, especially SAFe. Demonstrated experience balancing Product Owner and Agile delivery responsibilities.
Strong backlog-management skills, including prioritization, story refinement, acceptance criteria, dependency management, and development readiness. Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Jira Align. Proven ability to facilitate Agile ceremonies and ensure adherence to effective Agile practices.
Strong understanding of sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and scaled planning activities. Experience using Agile and delivery metrics to improve team execution, flow, and predictability. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a data-driven mindset.
Excellent collaboration and stakeholder-management skills. Strong dependency, risk, and impediment-management capabilities. Ability to influence without authority across global and matrixed organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good-to-Have Understanding of DevOps and Test Automation pipelines. Experience facilitating workshops and Agile training sessions.
Familiarity with data platforms and ETL pipelines. Familiarity with AI, analytics, data products, Agentic AI, or Databricks environments. Experience with Kanban and flow-based delivery practices.
Experience supporting Program Increment planning and Agile Release Train activities. Understanding of product management, portfolio management, and roadmap-alignment practices. Certifications – Preferred Certified SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent.
SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or equivalent. Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
Certified Product Owner or equivalent Product Owner certification. PMI-ACP or other recognized Scrum / Agile certification. Soft Skills Strong leadership, facilitation, and coaching capabilities.
Excellent communication across business, scientific, and technical audiences. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language. Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous situations.
