Job Description Position Summary The Director BD Excellence HR will be responsible for driving the adoption and execution of the BD Excellence vision and strategy across our Human Resources organization. This position is a key partner in our journey to BD Excellence, acting as reference and advisor to the EVP, Chief People Officer and will support the ExHRLT (Extended HR Leadership team) in managing the Continuous Improvement process, with emphasis on visual management, problem solving and kaizen and will assist in deploying of strategic plans, ensuring alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) top-down and bottom-up. This position is responsible for delivering and coaching BD Excellence across the HR organization and processes in support of our ambition to deliver the tools and best-in-class approach to world-class customer experience through excellence.

Success Profile The successful candidate will be a transformational, enterprise-minded continuous improvement leader who can translate the BD Excellence vision into disciplined execution across the global Human Resources organization, partnering directly with the EVP, Chief People Officer and ExHRLT to embed operating rigor, visual management, problem solving, kaizen, and KPI-driven performance management into the way HR delivers value. They will bring deep experience in a mature continuous improvement environment, strong fluency in lean business systems, and a proven ability to drive measurable business impact in complex, global, matrixed organizations where influence, coalition-building, and accountability are essential.

This leader will combine strategic systems thinking with a hands-on execution mindset, acting as both advisor and change agent to standardize best practices, build certified BD Excellence capability, strengthen HR’s operating review mechanisms, and accelerate adoption of tools, behaviors, and routines that enable sustainable performance improvement. They will be recognized for exceptional facilitation, executive communication, learning agility, personal integrity, and the ability to challenge existing paradigms while empowering leaders and associates to identify inefficiencies, remove obstacles, and deliver results that matter across BD. Success is demonstrated by: Standardized BD excellence frameworks adopted consistently across the HR organization Strong organizational capability building and sustainable outcomes Effective governance, compliance, and execution disciplines Quantifiable improvements in operational efficiency, workforce effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction Key Responsibilities The primary responsibilities will include: BD Excellence Strategy Development and Deployment: Lead the development and alignment of the BD Excellence vision and strategy in the HR organization to support structured growth and innovation across various business and functional areas, with a primary focus on the deployment of the BD Excellence tools and processes that will drive best-in-class effectiveness Acts as air traffic control for the EVP, Chief People Officer and their Leadership Team, integrating the strategic and cross-functional workstreams whilst driving the Operating Review mechanisms.

Responsible for overall performance of the deployment processes, process governance and program management in the CPO office In close alignment with the BD Excellence Office, support the deployment of the BD Excellence tools and standardized methodologies to drive results and deliver increased sales effectiveness and tool adoption Support the EVP, Chief People Officer and the ExHRLT in the standardization across the global organization, consolidating our best practices and enabling the organization to leverage best-in-class practices across the globe Provide BD Excellence expertise to facilitate and aid in the deployment of strategic plans, ensuring alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) top-down and bottom-up Partner with BD Excellence Office in the development of BD Excellence tools and processes that will enable best in class execution, driving tool utilization and best practice adoption across the organization Own the deployment of BD Excellence tools and the roll out of standardized methodologies to drive effectiveness Cascade the BD Excellence toolbox, utilizing digital training tools, certification programs, and an apprenticeship mindset to embed BD Excellence into BD’s culture Utilize best-in-class tools (Kaizen, Visual Management, Daily Management, Problem Solving) to drive results Explore external market capabilities and technologies to support BDX Continuous Improvement strategy, promoting excellence across the HR organization and acting as a change agent for strategic shifts Establish certified practitioners in the HR organization for BD Excellence tools, including Problem Solving Process (PSP) and Kaizen Drive problem-solving using a Toyota-based approach to create Pareto charts and develop actions to address key issues (80/20 rule) Use bowlers, key performance indicators, and action plans to drive prioritization and rigor based on clear metrics Support the EVP, Chief People Officer and the ExHRLT in driving key initiatives through BD Excellence Develop and facilitate continuous improvement (Kaizen) events to achieve and sustain improvement results Partner with the central BD Excellence team facilitate best-practice sharing, driving efficiency and impact in the strong execution of BD Excellence tools and processes Leading Change through BD Excellence initiatives: Drive BD Excellence programs and initiatives to achieve long-term continuous improvement objectives Be a change champion in the deployment of BD Excellence in the HR organization and in the tools and mindset across the HR organization Challenge existing paradigms, encourage and promote internal and external best practice Drive collaboration to accept new ideas and achieve sustainable business improvements Lead efforts at organization level to improve the business and operation excellence and customer experience Organize the annual process to identify opportunities and lead the team to develop goals and action plans Cultivate BD Excellence Culture and Capability Development: Develop and grow capability through the HR organization to establish the fundamentals of excellence, in close collaboration with the BD Excellence office Equip the HR Leadership Team with BD Excellence concepts and knowledge, focusing on external and internal benchmarking Be an expert (can teach and execute) in the BD Excellence fundamentals of Visual Management (VM)/ Daily Management (DM), Problem Solving Process (PSP), Kaizen Drive culture of continuous improvement by encouraging associates to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements. Foster an environment where associates feel valued and empowered to give feedback and make change Design and implement programs or initiatives to raise awareness, adopt CI methodologies, and enhance capabilities of BD Excellence Education Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering, Human Resources, Operations Management or a related field is required. MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.

Required Experiences Ten (10)+ years of experience in an organization with a continuous improvement culture where visual management, problem solving, and kaizen are embedded in business operations Five (5)+ years of Human Resources or relevant functional experience, with a track record of driving processes and achieving results in global, matrix organizations Demonstrated success driving business impact through continuous improvement and kaizen initiatives in fast-changing environments Significant experience applying Problem Solving, Visual Management, Kaizen, and KPI development to improve organizational performance Proven ability to drive results through cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration while holding teams accountable for outcomes Experience leading new programs and initiatives with limited direction Demonstrated learning agility, successfully taking on new projects, responsibilities, and roles in accelerated timeframes Experience partnering with leadership teams to drive organizational change, continuous improvement, and engagement Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously Knowledge and Skills Strong knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma business systems; Lean certification highly desirable Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership Ability to build coalitions of support and successfully drive change in complex matrix environments Ability to translate strategic direction into execution through strong action orientation and a hands-on approach Dynamic and engaging presence with the ability to motivate others and operate with strong personal integrity Systems-thinking approach to problem solving Passion for continuous improvement, performance measurement, and problem solving Additional: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (approximately 30-40%).
