Principal Scientist I, Molecular and Cellular Biology About Site Catalent’s Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery, Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. Position Summary We have an opportunity for a Principal Scientist I, Molecular and Cellular Biology to join our team. In this role, you will lead assay generation, design, development, and validation for Biopharma product development under cGMP guidance.
You will also draft, review, and approve technical documents and provide leadership in training and compliance activities. This position offers the chance to work with advanced techniques and contribute to the success of large molecule and biologics programs. Shift: Monday – Friday, 1st Shift: 8AM-4:30PM Location: Kansas City, MO 100% Onsite The Role Read and follow standard operating procedures with attention to detail.
Act as subject matter expert on listed techniques and perform sample testing activities. Lead implementation of new technologies and assess their impact on Catalent offerings. Provide leadership in assay generation, design, development, and validation efforts for Biopharma product development under cGMP regulations.
Mentor and promote a learning culture on laboratory techniques within the group. Maintain commitment to high quality work and productivity. Mentor, coach, and train peers on cGMP compliance, methods, and laboratory instruments and equipment.
Lead computer system validation activities within the group. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to develop new techniques. Provide leadership and technical guidance to ensure program productivity and efficiency.

The Candidate Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Physical Science with a minimum of 18 years of relevant experience in department-specific techniques, OR Master’s degree in a related life science or physical science field with a minimum of 16 years of relevant experience in department-specific techniques, OR Doctorate degree in a related life science or physical science field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in department-specific techniques. Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift, pull or push 0-40 pounds.
Preferred Skills & Background Advanced knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts in a discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry, and broad knowledge of related disciplines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. High personal credibility, strong motivation, and team development skills.
Well organized with ability to multitask and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Coaching skills to train junior scientists. Leadership development and supervisory skills are expected.
