Senior Data Engineer II (Operational Business Insights – Quality Data Engineer), AbbVie Inc., North Chicago, IL. Hybrid (onsite 3 days a week & 2 days WFH).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & develop scalable data solutions & platforms for efficient data processing & presentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, reporting teams, & data scientists, to understand data requirements & optimize loading processes.
  • Build & optimize secure endpoints to facilitate data access, retrieval, & integration across diverse applications & source systems.
  • Implement data governance, security measures, & performance optimizations to ensure data integrity & quick, accurate access.
  • Provide technical leadership, stay updated with emerging technologies, & collaborate to address data integration challenges & drive innovation.

Education & Experience

Must possess a BS in computer, electronics or electrical engineering or related field & 5 years of work experience preparing & analyzing data & preparing insights & visualizations in a large, public company.

Of experience required, must have 5 years

  • working with Database Technologies, SQL & NoSQL databases, PostgreSQL, data quality & analytics fields;
  • interpreting & analyzing data & sharing issues & insights by creating reports & dashboards for visualization in Cognos & Power/BI;
  • designing & implementing large data processing, ETL systems, & testing performance of data-driven products using DataStage or Informatica;
  • creating, defining, & executing rigorous roadmaps for new data analytics projects & aligning data projects with organizational goals using JIRA & Confluence; &
  • managing project stakeholders, business teams, & practicing a business mindset to understand real business issues or requirements using tools like JIRA, SNOW & Alation.

Must also have (vi) 3 years of experience working in cloud technologies, terminologies, platforms, & AWS services including Redshift.

Alternatively, would accept Masters in computer, electronics or electrical engineering or related field & 3 years of work experience preparing & analyzing data & preparing insights & visualizations in a large, public company.

Of experience required, must have 3 years’ experience in each of (i), (ii), (iii), (iv), (v), & (vi).

With either combination of education & work experience, must have 2 years ensuring data quality, integrity, security & governance & 1 year in each of the following:

  • designing & implementing large data processing, ETL systems, & testing performance of data-driven products using a combination of Databricks, PySpark, AWS Glue, & Autosys;
  • developing programs for machine learning, automation, & latest analytics using Python, or PySpark languages; &
  • designing & implementing data frameworks using Data Vault, & Medallion architecture.

Work experience may be gained concurrently. Will accept any combination of education, training & work experience.

Salary Range: $167,336 - $183,500 per year.
