Your Role
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence within their domain by providing advanced knowledge, process expertise, and analytical capabilities. The SME drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports end-to-end process optimization, and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance service delivery and client experience. Operating with a high level of autonomy, the SME ensures data integrity, strengthens compliance, resolves complex operational issues, and contributes to capability building within the team.
Core Capabilities and Required Skill Level
Continuous Improvement
- ✓Leads Lean-based improvement projects (Kanban, VSM, 3Cs) delivering measurable results. Drives efficiency, owns solution sustainability, and coaches colleagues on CI methodologies.
Stakeholder Management
- ✓Aligns cross-functional stakeholders through structured communication and conflict resolution. Manages vendors, leverages internal networks, and ensures delivery of financial and non-financial benefits.
Client Centricity
- ✓Understands client needs, adapts approaches, and uses feedback to improve service quality. Independently leads client engagement and ensures agreed ways of working are upheld.
Data & Tools / Application Management
- ✓Maintains data accuracy across processes, resolves quality issues, and explains system logic to stakeholders. Leverages tools to drive efficiency and support decision-making.
Process Excellence
- ✓Identifies improvement opportunities, develops SOPs, and applies Lean/Kaizen practices independently. Manages risks, ensures compliance, and troubleshoots complex process scenarios.
Domain Knowledge
- ✓Deep expertise in Vendor Master Data and Operational Purchasing (P2P). Acts as SME and process owner, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and cross-functional alignment. Drives automation, standardization, and capability building.
Performance Management
- ✓Tracks individual and team performance using KPIs and Daily Management principles. Applies Lean tools with light guidance and manages team-level budget considerations.
Coaching & Mentoring
- ✓Delivers timely feedback and applies the I-L-U approach to develop colleagues. Fosters a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety.
Self-Awareness
- ✓Recognizes personal strengths and development areas, actively seeks feedback, and maintains a personal development plan. Builds resilience and engages in open, accountable dialogue.
Who You Are
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Finance, IT, Operations, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- ✓At least 5 years of experience in service delivery, shared services, process management, or domain-specific operations.
- ✓Strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills.
- ✓Proficiency in relevant systems (ERP, Oracle, SAP), tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- ✓More than 5yrs of experience with Lean, continuous improvement, and performance management methodologies is preferred.
- ✓Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships. (Emphasize regional/global support / scope of area)
