Asia Digital & PB Technology Deployment

Main Purpose

Regional technical unit lead (VACC leader) and Asia Breeding LT member accountable to integrate and accelerate Precision Breeding and technical strategies, advanced methods, global breeding & industry best practices across all product units in Asia breeding driving & accelerating transformation for increased innovation. Design & lead Asia breeding’s in the technical transformation strategies in the areas of AI and gene editing by closely partnering with different regional and global stakeholders.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

✓Lead regional unit responsible to drive Precision Breeding and technical transformation, innovation acceleration and technology adoption in Asia breeding aligned across leadership team, capability hubs & product units impacting Corn and Rice crops
✓Develop and catalyze a vision for technical transformation in and across Asia breeding and global breeding to invent and adopt technical innovations & improvements E2E across strategic & operational pipelines
✓Identify, prioritize and advance specific innovation, technical improvement initiatives building an innovation acceleration portfolio for Asia breeding with mission teams to deliver
✓Inclusive and collaborative unit leadership identifying & growing talent skills & capabilities as a key part of overall technical transformation strategy with capability hub leads
✓Advance dynamic resource & talent flow drawing on talent in Asia and across global breeding, R&D and stakeholders.
✓Actively drive global & Asia breeding strategies as member of Asia breeding Leadership team and Breeding Leadership Community (BLC)
✓Advance dynamic talent and resource flow in the unit drawing on talent in Asia and across global breeding, R&D and stakeholders
✓Interact strongly with relevant Bayer global breeding functions (see working relations) including ensuring technical transformation, technology adoption across teams
✓Lead and participate in Global Breeding and Regional Breeding initiatives and work teams to deliver precision breeding objectives

Qualifications & Competencies

✓PhD degree with 8 years or MS degree w/ 10 years of experience in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, agricultural science or related field
✓Proven leadership experience in assessing & transforming scientific and operational strategies
✓Cross-crop experience & knowledge preferred.
✓Familiarity with digital technologies including AI, data strategies is preferred.
✓High agility to respond to changing environments and adapt to new situations, excellent networking skills
✓VACC leadership behaviors & skills with ability to influence action & change
✓Effective verbal communication skills, essential to be fluent in English
✓Strong technical skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting in measurable success
