Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Laboratory Setting Job Description As a Field Service Engineer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific , you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical service and customer support for sophisticated analytical instrumentation. You will support customers across research, industrial, pharmaceutical, and healthcare environments by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing LCMS and HPLC systems . This role combines strong technical expertise with customer engagement and provides an opportunity to work with advanced analytical technologies while contributing to scientific progress and customer success.

Key Responsibilities Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair LCMS and HPLC instruments at customer sites. Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, system diagnostics, and performance verification in accordance with established service procedures. Diagnose and resolve complex electronic, mechanical, vacuum, software, and system-level issues .

Support customers operating in regulated/compliance environments and enterprise network environments. Troubleshoot and support Chromeleon or similar chromatography/data-system software , including network-connected installations. Respond effectively to customer requirements, including urgent service needs, and drive issues toward timely resolution.

Provide technical guidance and training to customers and users on instrument operation, routine maintenance, and best practices. Complete accurate and timely field service reports, service documentation, and technical records . Identify recurring or outstanding product/system issues and provide structured feedback to Product Quality, Technical Support, and relevant internal teams .

Maintain effective communication with customers throughout the service lifecycle and contribute toward achieving customer satisfaction objectives. Work independently while collaborating effectively with regional and cross-functional teams to achieve individual and team objectives. Follow all applicable safety, quality, compliance, and company procedures while performing service activities.

Qualifications & Technical Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant hands-on technical experience. Preferred fields of study include Electronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, , or another relevant technical discipline. Demonstrated hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of LCMS and HPLC instruments .

Strong electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills with a systematic approach to fault diagnosis and root-cause identification. Experience working in regulated/compliance environments . Experience supporting enterprise/network-based customers using Chromeleon or comparable chromatography/data-system software.

Experience with high-vacuum systems and high-voltage equipment is preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, service manuals, electrical/electronic schematics, and troubleshooting procedures. Relevant technical or product certifications are advantageous.

Customer & Professional Skills Excellent customer-service orientation with strong interpersonal skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to customers and users with varying levels of technical expertise.

Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities. Ability to effectively train and support customers on equipment operation and routine system maintenance. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple customer requirements.

Demonstrated ability to work independently in field environments while collaborating effectively as part of a wider service team. Experience preparing clear, accurate, and detailed technical/service reports. Demonstrated commitment to achieving customer satisfaction and service-quality objectives.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant service-management applications . Proficiency in English; additional language skills are advantageous. Travel & Work Requirements Valid driver's license.

Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50–75% within the assigned territory , based on customer and business requirements. Ability to respond to customer requirements at short notice. Flexibility to work extended hours and, when necessary, weekends and holidays based on customer urgency and business requirements.

Ability to work safely in a variety of laboratory and customer environments. Physical ability to lift and handle equipment or components weighing approximately 25 lbs (11 kg) . Consistent adherence to applicable safety, quality, regulatory, and compliance standards.
