Job Summary

The Clinical Engagement Regional Associate Director is a field-based, senior level, people-management role responsible for leading a team of Clinical Engagement Leads (CELs) who are responsible for building and managing investigator and site relationships across the organization’s clinical trial portfolio. This role serves as the central global people manager for the field-based clinical engagement function in assigned region(s)execution of investigator and site relationship management across the assigned region/countries. The Clinical Engagement Manager combines people leadership skills with deep knowledge of the I&I therapeutic area and clinical trial operations — serving as the escalation point for complex investigator and site issues and as the primary conduit of field intelligence and team performance to senior Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership.

This is a highly visible role that requires the ability to build and lead a high-performing field team and operate independently across a broad assigned geography.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day people leadership for a team of Clinical Engagement Leads — including coaching, performance management, goal-setting, and career development to build and sustain a high-performing field-based engagement team.
  • Support site engagement strategy and priorities for the assigned region/country — translating clinical program goals into team-level objectives for investigator identification, site feasibility, activation, and enrollment performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop Clinical Engagement Lead talent — partnering with HR and Clinical Operations leadership on hiring decisions, territory/portfolio assignments, and ongoing skills development.
  • Review and approve site engagement plans and feasibility recommendations developed by the team, providing strategic input on site selection, activation timelines, and enrollment risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex investigator and site relationship issues, partnering with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership to resolve challenges that exceed team-member authority.

  • Support the development of team training, onboarding, and engagement playbooks for Clinical Engagement Leads in collaboration with Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee team contributions to IIS (investigator-initiated study) identification and evaluation — ensuring scientifically relevant IIS concepts are appropriately flagged, reviewed, and tracked in coordination with Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee data quality and compliance of investigator interactions, site assessments, and clinical engagement activities recorded by the team in the CRM system, in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with clinical operations tools including CTMS, CRM platforms (e.g., Veeva), and site management systems; experience overseeing team documentation of field activities to GCP and compliance standards.
  • Experienced people leader who manages and develops a team of field-based professionals independently, prioritizes team objectives strategically, and operates with minimal supervision across a broad geography.
