The Environmental Testing Leader is responsible for the strategic, operational and technical management of the Environmental Testing business line in Croatia. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality environmental testing services, compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, contribution to achievement of financial targets, and development of a high-performing team. The position leads laboratory operations related to water, wastewater, soil, sediment, and environmental monitoring services.

Key Operational Management responsibilities include

  • Oversee daily environmental laboratory operations.
  • Ensure efficient resource planning, capacity management, and workflow optimization.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead investments in laboratory equipment, technology, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure timely delivery of analytical results and reports.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Chemistry, Agronomy, or related natural sciences
  • 7-10+ years of experience in environmental testing laboratories
  • 2-5+ years in a leadership or management role

Proven experience in

  • Water testing (drinking water, wastewater, groundwater)
  • Soil and sediment analysis
  • Environmental chemistry
  • Experience managing laboratory operations, budgets, and teams
  • Business fluent English and Croatian language skills (written and spoken)

Preferred Technical competencies and regulatory knowledge

Strong understanding of

  • ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements
  • Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Quality Management Systems
  • Environmental monitoring programs
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Croatian environmental legislation.

EU environmental directives and regulations

  • Water Framework Directive
  • Industrial Emissions Directive
  • Waste Framework Directive
  • REACH Regulation
  • Environmental permitting requirements
  • Accreditation and inspection requirements from Croatian authorities
