The Position Your department The cell culture process development team of Roche in Penzberg is looking for a motivated student to directly contribute to technology development and platform optimization for our future viral vector-manufacturing platform. Hereby, we are entering a new era of gene therapy with the great potential to reshape the treatment of several human diseases.
During your internship you will partake in this development. Our team attaches great importance to making your time at Roche as rewarding as possible. You will be warmly welcomed into the team right from the start and gain exciting insights into a wide variety of areas.
The focus is to guarantee you a constant learning effect and to bring in your ideas, to support you but also to challenge you. Your tasks Plan, prepare, and execute laboratory-scale viral vector production experiments to generate starting material for your experiments. Investigate, characterize, and optimize current lysis and harvest protocols to improve overall process efficiency.
Evaluate and compare different filtration setups and clarification technologies to maximize vector recovery while ensuring robust operation. Contribute actively to the development and evaluation of innovative harvest and clarification strategies within the department. Work both individually and as part of an intercultural team to achieve project milestones within defined timelines.
Leverage scientific literature and past studies to extract critical information supporting the project. Your profile You are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, biology, biochemistry, or a comparable course, or you are in your gap year between your bachelor’s and master’s studies. In the best case, you already hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific or engineering field.
Initial practical experience or theoretical knowledge in the field of large-scale fermentation and/or filtration techniques is useful and highly advantageous. You are distinguished by your independence, commitment, and structured approach to laboratory work, and you enjoy technical challenges. You are proficient in English (required) and have a good command of German (favorable) to successfully communicate within our global and intercultural team.
