Position Summary

The Distributor Operations Manager is part of the Americas Healthcare Commercial Operations organization and is responsible for management of the distributor support strategy, including the sales tracing and chargeback functions. The role provides support to Sales, Distributor Partners, Customers, and while also serving as a subject matter expert across STERIS businesses. The position involves collaboration with Compensation, Finance, Information Technology, Pricing and Contract Administration and Sales, as well as external Customers and Distributors to support growth of the indirect channel and reduction of channel costs.

This position is responsible for management of over $300M indirect sales and $140M distributor chargeback/chargeback volume across commercial sales teams.

This position is a hybrid work schedule. The team meets at our US HQ in Mentor Ohio on Monday and Tuesday.

What You'll Do as a Manager, Distributor Operations

Program Management

  • Develop and execute distributor channel support strategy to align with business objectives.
  • Drive trace sales/chargeback initiatives as the business process owner for Oracle STERIS Redistribution. Recommend, test, and implement enhancements to Oracle STERIS Redistribution and deploy training to global users of the module.
  • Lead the team’s distributor chargeback processes. Develop and implement processes for trend analysis to identify chargeback variances. Implement systems to review root causes of distributor chargeback discrepancies, provide consistent reporting of causes, and strategies to reduce chargeback discrepancies and resulting open chargeback balances.
  • Lead the continuous improvement initiatives within the function including leadership standard work, key performance indicators and root cause counter measures, visual management, and standard work.
  • Partner with STERIS IT, RPA Integrators & Developers, and Digital Order Team on development of new capabilities, including RPA/AI, EDI, and other technologies, to support global distributor channels.
  • Actively participate in the development of process improvements, including documentation of requirements, entry of system change request, system testing, and updating work instructions. This requires Manager to maintain a technical understanding of Cognos, EDI, Oracle, and RPA.
  • Leverage process understanding and value-based prioritization to initiate continuous improvement opportunities that maximize department efficiency and effectiveness for supported businesses.
  • Exercise high degree of initiative and creativity in solving challenges and accomplishing business goals.
  • Define requirements and lead acquisition integration efforts for sales tracing and chargeback functions.
  • Ensure integrity of sales tracing and chargeback data in all business systems by defining, designing, developing, implementing and managing SOPs based on benchmarking and other research. Proactively seek information on industry trends that impact distribution.
  • Develop and maintain regular metrics to provide visibility to trends and identify areas for improvement.

People Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Distributor Operations Analysts and Chargeback Resolution Analyst.
  • Identify and manage resources needed for success, including identification of job requirements, candidate selection performance management, compensation, retention or termination, and engagement.
  • Manage new hire process including interviewing and hiring. Responsible for the training and onboarding of new hires, objective setting, and follow up on the effectiveness of training.
  • Build skills within team in areas such as problem solving and analysis, continuous improvement/lean practices, communication, and negotiation.
  • Design and implement department metrics, ensuring team meets service levels and goals.

Change Management

  • Develop initiatives to increase productivity and efficiencies within team, as well as drive the team vision.
  • Propose process/system changes to improve service level or to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
  • Work with all businesses to understand their initiatives and how team can support them.
  • Identify channel support needs of newly acquired businesses or newly launched channels.
  • Attend industry events and proactively monitor industry trends that impact Distributor Operations; participate as subject matter expert in industry workgroups when opportunities are available.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of distribution, contract issues, and trends.
  • Responsible for identification and standardization of key Distributor Operations elements and measures that drive critical business activities.
  • Provide expertise in business system development efforts where distribution is involved.
  • Manage ongoing support for key tools by department, including Oracle Redistribution.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years of business experience with increasing responsibility
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Preferred

  • 3+ years management/supervisory experience preferred
  • 2+ STERIS experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Lean/continuous improvement experience helpful

Other

  • Strong decision-making skills; understands how decisions impact the Customer and STERIS businesses
  • Demonstrated analytical background with proven record of structuring and solving problems, drawing conclusions, and formulating recommendations
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organization skills; ability to take initiative and deliver projects with little to no supervision
  • Detail-oriented with deep appreciation for quality control
  • Ability to lead and influence a cross-functional team and operate in a highly complex environment

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to facilitate discussions with STERIS stakeholders and Distributors and effectively influence both
  • Ability to handle multiple demands from many sources and prioritize effectively

Pay range for this opportunity is $92,650.00 - $115,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
