Business Owner, Molecular Biology Scientific Data What you will do Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will serve as the scientific Senior Scientist Business Owner for the digital tools, workflows, and data domain that support molecular cloning and individual construct and plasmid design across biologics discovery.
You will connect scientists with data and technology teams, translating scientific needs into clear product priorities, system requirements, and scalable digital capabilities. A key focus of this role is helping scientists use and improve the tools that support construct design, sequence registration, cloning, and related experimental workflows. You will bring strong scientific knowledge of plasmid design and biologic molecule formats.
The role focuses on workflows for individual construct and plasmid design; combinatorial library design, degenerate-sequence design, and library optimization are outside its scope. You will also own the scientific data domain for cloning workflows. This includes defining how sequences, components, constructs, vectors, plasmids, molecule formats, and related experiments are represented and connected across scientific applications.
You will partner with adjacent scientific Business Owners, software engineers, business analysts, and data teams on the technical implementation of the data model and system integrations. Key Responsibilities Lead meetings with molecular biologists, cloning scientists, protein engineers, and other biologics discovery users, and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for their scientific workflow and tool-related needs. Translate scientific needs into clear data and workflow requirements, and explain complex scientific concepts to software engineers and business analysts.
Partner with technology teams through design, implementation, testing, release, and adoption to confirm that solutions meet the original scientific need, while maintaining clear communication about scope, decisions, risks, and dependencies. Ensure the data model supports workflows for individual construct and plasmid design and accurately represents established and emerging individual-molecule formats. Define the scientific relationships and data linkages needed across applications, and partner with data and technology teams on their implementation and maintenance.
Lead scientific requirements reviews and coordinate user training and acceptance testing using representative workflows, molecule formats, data, and edge cases. Coordinate release communication, training, and adoption for new capabilities. Define and reinforce standard ways of working for capturing high-quality molecular biology design data.
Provide scientific context as workflows and molecule formats evolve, helping data and technology teams identify gaps and improve data quality across scientific systems. Improve the readiness of molecular biology design data for downstream automation, analytics, and ML/AI-enabled discovery. What expect of you We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.
The dynamic professional we seek is a self-starter with these qualifications. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, Structural Biology, or a related scientific field. Strong knowledge of molecular cloning and plasmid design workflows, supported by prior hands-on cloning or individual construct-design experience in a research or biotechnology environment.
Expertise in antibody-based molecule formats, including antibody fragments and multispecifics, with the ability to interpret how domains are organized within and across chains and how features define the resulting architecture. Experience translating scientific workflows into informatics tools, structured data, standard processes, and implementation guidance for technical teams. Experience owning or stewarding a scientific product, workflow, data domain, roadmap, or feature backlog.
Working knowledge of scientific data models, controlled terminology, metadata, identifiers, entity relationships, versioning, lineage, and cross-system data integration. Experience with sequence design, construct registration, laboratory informatics, or comparable scientific platforms. Experience leading requirements reviews, user acceptance testing, troubleshooting, release readiness, and user adoption.
Familiarity with agile software delivery and preparing scientific data for analytics or ML/AI use. Strong facilitation, prioritization, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across scientific and technical teams. What you can expect of us As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
