Automation Engineer - API Manufacturing 5 (M5) Are you passionate about automation and eager to make a difference in large-scale pharmaceutical production? Join one of Novo Nordisk's newest manufacturing facilities and help ensure stable, reliable, and continuously improving automation solutions. Your new role API Manufacturing 5 (M5) is one of Novo Nordisk's newest production facilities, consisting of six purification production lines gradually transitioning from project phase into full operations.
As an Automation Engineer, you will support daily production while also contributing to project activities for lines still being implemented and validated. Working within the M5 Automation team – responsible for maintaining and developing critical automation solutions across ABB 800xA (DCS), Siemens PLC technologies, and PAS-X MES. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting and maintaining automation systems in a GMP-regulated production environment Troubleshooting technical issues using systematic problem-solving methodologies Driving continuous improvements of systems, processes, and procedures Reviewing and maintaining technical documentation Collaborating closely with production, engineering teams, and external partners Ensuring system integration and compliance with GMP requirements Contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous development across the organisation You will be based in Kalundborg and become part of a team supporting production around the clock, including participation in an on-call support rotation outside regular working hours.

Your skills & qualifications We're looking for a proactive and curious Automation Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving complex technical challenges.
You work in a structured manner, have a strong quality mindset, and actively share knowledge with colleagues. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines. You'll bring with you: A B.Sc., M.Sc., or technician degree in Engineering, Automation, IT, or a related field – or extensive relevant experience At least three years of experience working with ABB 800xA, PAS-X, PLC programming, or similar automation technologies Experience in systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and GMP requirements Strong communication and collaboration skills, with fluency in written and spoken English As a person, you are solution-oriented and customer-focused, comfortable taking initiative and driving improvements.
You are motivated by learning and continuous development, and you contribute positively to the work environment as a true team player. Experience from the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated industry is considered an advantage. What we offer Salary : For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 570,200.00 DKK to 838,100.00 DKK (DK), corresponding to the level of the position. The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
