Position Summary

  • The Director, Commercial Operations is responsible for leading the commercial infrastructure, processes, and analytics that enable execution of Dendreon's commercial strategy. This role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Operations, Finance, IT, and Compliance to deliver scalable processes, actionable insights, operational effectiveness, and consistent field execution.
  • The Director will oversee sales operations, territory alignment, incentive compensation administration, CRM effectiveness, forecasting support, reporting, commercial analytics, and business planning processes. The role serves as a key liaison between field teams and corporate functions, ensuring data-driven decision making and operational excellence across the commercial organization. This position plays a critical role in supporting growth, improving customer engagement, and enhancing the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Operations Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day commercial operations supporting Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and Patient Operations.
  • Develop and maintain operational processes that improve execution efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support annual commercial planning, organizational design, and field deployment strategies.
  • Establish operating rhythms and performance management processes that drive accountability and execution.

Sales Operations & Field Effectiveness

  • Manage territory alignment, customer targeting, roster management, and field deployment strategies.
  • Oversee incentive compensation administration, sales crediting, goal setting, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure field teams have the tools, processes, and insights necessary for successful customer engagement.
  • Partner with field leadership to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.

Commercial Analytics & Reporting

  • Lead development of commercial dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and executive reporting.
  • Deliver actionable insights related to sales performance, customer engagement, referral activity, patient journey metrics, and market dynamics.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial Leadership to support forecasting and performance evaluation.
  • Translate data into strategic recommendations for senior leadership.

CRM & Commercial Technology

  • Serve as business owner for CRM and commercial technology platforms.
  • Drive adoption and optimization of customer engagement tools.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to implement system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and compliance across commercial systems.

Strategic Planning & Forecasting Support

  • Support short and long-range commercial planning processes.
  • Partner with Finance and commercial leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for commercial investments and initiatives.
  • Monitor initiative progress and measure business impact.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Operations, Finance, IT, Legal, and Compliance.
  • Support commercial launches, strategic initiatives, process improvement projects, and organizational change efforts.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment and problem-solving across customer-facing functions.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure commercial operations activities adhere to healthcare compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready processes and documentation.
  • Support governance related to data management, reporting, territory alignment, and incentive compensation.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Life Sciences, Analytics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or commercial operations experience.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting oncology, specialty pharmaceutical, buy-and-bill, or complex provider-based sales models.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales operations, analytics, CRM systems, and commercial performance reporting.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, territory design, incentive compensation, and field execution.

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience with oncology products and provider-focused commercial models.
  • Experience leading CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
  • Experience supporting Market Access, Patient Services, or Commercial Excellence organizations.
