Job Purpose

The ideal candidate for the Operations Technology Automation Technician role will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges and has excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. This position will be based out of our Columbia, SC facility and be responsible for the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Automation Support for Manufacturing Systems using Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rexroth, and B&R PLC Systems.
  • Primary area of concentration will be the Rockwell FactoryTalk Suite of products.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software requirements for projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements and business needs
  • Manage projects - defining scope, stakeholder analysis, objectives, timeline, testing phase, implementation and evaluation.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical, mechanical, and software components of automated systems.
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new automation projects.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge and experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk Suite including FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk Historian, FactoryTalk AssetCentre, and the interconnections between them
  • Knowledge of Siemens, Rexroth and/or B&R PLC desirable
  • Electrical/Control System design and installation.
  • Develop and apply PLC/DCS programming
  • Develop and apply HMI programming
  • Develop, read and understand project related drawings including P&IDs
  • Write documents such as User Requirements, Functional Specifications, Detailed Design Specifications, etc.
  • Conduct full functional and Factory Acceptance Testing
  • Participate in and lead Startup and Commissioning of projects
  • Develop technical solutions and resolve project issues
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment

Education/Experience

1 Year PLC Programming experience on Allen Bradley Controllers

  • RSLogix, and Compact Logix
  • Minimum Highschool Diploma or GED required. Associates and/ or Bachelors Degree in relative field preferred
