DESCRIPTION Position Summary The Senior Manager, Design & Visual Communications is responsible for creating executive-level visual communications that support the company's highest strategic priorities. As a trusted creative partner to the office of the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Corporate Strategy, Investor Relations, Brand, Corporate Communications, and other senior leaders, this role transforms complex business, scientific, and strategic concepts into compelling visual narratives that inform, influence, and inspire.

This position combines executive presentation design, original graphic design, information visualization, and enterprise visual communications to produce materials used across the company's most visible initiatives. Success in this role requires equal strengths in creative execution, strategic thinking, relationship management, and project leadership. The individual must be comfortable working directly with senior executives and cross-functional leaders, managing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, and providing thoughtful creative counsel in a fast-paced corporate environment.

The role also serves as a steward of the company's enterprise visual assets, ensuring imagery accurately reflects the organization's science, products, services, facilities, and brand while maintaining the highest standards of technical accuracy, authenticity, and visual excellence. Key Responsibilities Executive Presentation Design & Visual Storytelling Design communications optimized for modern digital channels, selecting the appropriate combination of presentation, motion, interactive, web, video, and visual content to maximize audience engagement Design executive presentations for the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, and other senior leadership audiences for high profile external and internal events, including Investor Day, earnings communications, Board meetings, leadership conferences and strategic planning sessions Translate complex scientific, financial, operational, and strategic information into compelling visual stories that simplify complexity while maintaining technical accuracy Create original visual concepts that strengthen executive messaging and improve audience engagement Partner directly with executives and communications leaders to refine messaging, organize information, and elevate visual effectiveness Deliver exceptional work under tight deadlines while managing multiple concurrent executive priorities Graphic Design & Information Visualization Create original graphic design solutions that communicate complex ideas through compelling visual storytelling Design custom illustrations, diagrams, icons, infographics, process flows, scientific concepts, and data visualizations that extend beyond standard presentation templates Develop visual identities and creative assets for enterprise initiatives, executive events, internal campaigns, and strategic communications Apply advanced principles of typography, composition, color theory, information hierarchy, and visual design to improve clarity and engagement Produce publication-quality graphics for executive presentations, digital communications, reports, leadership events, and enterprise initiatives Transform abstract concepts into clear, memorable visual experiences that support strategic decision making Leverage AI-assisted creative workflows to accelerate ideation, visualization, image generation, editing, and presentation development while maintaining exceptional quality, originality, and brand integrity Enterprise Visual Communications & Brand Stewardship Provide creative direction and quality oversight for enterprise photography supporting executive communications, scientific storytelling, leadership events, laboratories, manufacturing operations, and corporate initiatives Review visual content to ensure accurate representation of company products, laboratory environments, manufacturing operations, and safety practices Apply strong visual and technical judgment to identify inconsistencies, including incorrect personal protective equipment (PPE), inaccurate laboratory practices, outdated branding, or competitor products appearing in company imagery Collaborate with photographers, creative partners, and communications teams to produce authentic visual assets aligned with corporate brand standards Curate and manage enterprise visual assets within the corporate Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform, maximizing long-term reuse across executive presentations, Investor Relations, Annual Reports, sustainability reporting, leadership meetings, and enterprise communications Champion visual consistency while continuously expanding the organization's library of reusable enterprise assets Develop scalable visual systems, reusable templates, presentation frameworks, and enterprise design components that improve consistency, efficiency, and creative quality across executive communications Strategic Partnership & Project Leadership Serve as a trusted creative advisor to executives, Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, Marketing, and other business partners Lead multiple high-profile projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and evolving business needs Build strong collaborative relationships across functions through exceptional communication, responsiveness, and professionalism Guide stakeholders through the creative process by asking insightful questions, challenging assumptions when appropriate, and recommending effective visual communication strategies Coordinate projects from concept through final delivery, ensuring alignment among business objectives, messaging, timelines, and visual execution Operate with the highest degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when supporting executive leadership and sensitive corporate initiatives Business & Technical Knowledge Develop a strong understanding of Thermo Fisher Scientific's businesses, products, services, technologies, and customer markets Build familiarity with the company's scientific portfolio to ensure visual communications accurately represent products, applications, laboratory workflows, and customer environments Continuously expand knowledge of the life sciences industry, healthcare, biotechnology, diagnostics, laboratory operations, and related technologies Apply business and technical knowledge to improve the credibility, accuracy, and effectiveness of executive communications REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Eight or more years of experience in executive communications, corporate creative services, graphic design, or visual communications Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, with demonstrated experience creating executive presentations for senior leadership Advanced expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and Illustrator Demonstrated ability to create original graphic design, illustrations, infographics, diagrams, and visual communication assets from concept through execution Exceptional understanding of typography, layout, composition, information design, and visual storytelling Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile projects while meeting demanding deadlines Strong organizational, project management, and stakeholder management capabilities Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting C-suite executives within a Fortune 500 or similarly complex global organization Experience developing presentations for executive leadership, Board of Directors, Investor Relations, or corporate strategy Experience working within a global corporate communications or executive communications function Experience managing enterprise Digital Asset Management systems Photography or creative direction experience in scientific, healthcare, manufacturing, or technology environments Familiarity with laboratory operations, scientific instrumentation, life sciences, healthcare, or regulated industries Technical Skills Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft PowerPoint (Expert) Adobe Creative Services Suite: Photoshop and Illustrator (Expert) Artificial Intelligence tools and platforms (Preferred) Professional photography equipment and image editing workflows (Preferred) Digital Asset Management platforms (e.g., Canto, Adobe) Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $130,000.00–$160,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
