Reporting to the Senior Director, Patient Advocacy, this leader will drive high impact collaborations with patient advocacy organizations and global patient community engagement. This role is critical to ensuring patient and caregiver perspectives are incorporated into cross-functional planning and decision-making across the product lifecycle, spanning research and development to commercialization. The Director will serve as both an internal strategist and external relationship leader, helping Sarepta deliver on its mission through authentic community partnership, insight-driven action, and patient-centered leadership.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference The Opportunity to Make a Difference Primary Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of Sarepta’s patient advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, community needs, and the company’s commitment to patients and caregivers. Community Engagement: Build, strengthen, and sustain trusted strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organizations, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to advance shared goals and reinforce Sarepta’s connection to the communities it serves. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a strategic advisor to internal cross-functional teams, ensuring patient and caregiver perspectives are incorporated into planning, decision-making, and the organization’s priorities.
Patient Insights and Strategy: Identify, synthesize, and translate patient and caregiver insights into actionable recommendations that inform business decisions, development programs and patient-centered initiatives. Capacity Building: Identify and foster opportunities for meaningful collaboration with patient organizations that advance community priorities and organizational objectives. Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all interactions with patients, caregivers, and advocates adhere to internal and external compliance requirements Industry Awareness: Monitor the evolving healthcare, advocacy, and rare disease landscapes to identify emerging trends, stakeholder needs, and opportunities that inform business strategy.
More about You More about You Bachelor’s degree or above in life sciences, public health, healthcare, communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 12+ years of progressive experience in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, patient advocacy, public affairs or related fields, with demonstrated success developing advocacy strategies, building external stakeholder partnerships, and influencing cross-functional business decisions. 8+ years of experience in patient advocacy, public affairs, stakeholder engagement or other external-facing roles with a proven track record of building and sustaining strategic partnerships within rare disease communities.
Demonstrated ability to translate patient, caregiver, and community insights into strategic recommendations that inform organizational priorities and business decisions. Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of independence, judgment, and influence in a matrixed organization. Strong strategic planning, risk mitigation, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work across a complex matrix and achieve results. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong presentation and PowerPoint design abilities. Demonstrated ability to influence and build alignment across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Proven ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution in a dynamic and evolving environment. Willingness to travel 30–40%, including weekends, based on community needs. What Now?

The targeted salary range for this position is $185,600 - $232,000 per year.
Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges.
