About this role

THE POSITION The National Account Manager Veterinary & Retail Channel at Boehringer Ingelheim Italy will be part of the Pet Business Unit, responsible for developing pharmaceutical and OTC brands/products dedicated to the care and prevention of diseases in companion animals. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team-selling environment, serving as the primary point of contact between the company and the assigned strategic channels/customers. In this role, the NAM will take ownership of the assigned channels and execute the commercial strategy, driving business growth through the identification and development of opportunities.

The role requires excellence in the 4 Ps (Product, Placement, Price, and Promotion) through customer activation, contributing to revenue growth from both products and services. In addition, the NAM will build strong, value-driven customer relationships, contributing to increased market share, sales revenue, business growth, and profitability across assigned accounts. Please note: this is a field-based role requiring mobility and activity throughout the entire Italian territory.

Responsibilities: Develop and manage commercial relationships with wholesalers and retailers, leading negotiations in line with Boehringer Ingelheim's commercial and customer strategy to ensure business objectives are achieved. Develop a Strategic Customer Business Plan (SCBP) for each assigned strategic account, keeping it continuously updated and sharing it with all relevant internal stakeholders (Marketing, Trade Marketing, Sell-Out and Sell-In teams). Implement and execute effective sales strategies to achieve market share, sales, and investment objectives for assigned accounts.

Manage customer investment budgets according to different channel dynamics, maximizing return on investment (ROI) through detailed analysis aimed at improving sales, trade investments, channel execution, product mix, and related performance indicators. Actively participate in internal meetings to ensure successful execution of commercial strategies. Develop Joint Business Plans in partnership with key strategic customers and foster multi-level relationships within customer organizations.

Work closely with the Sell-Out team to ensure proper integration between Sell-In and Sell-Out strategies. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Trade Marketing, Customer Excellence, and Finance teams. Analyze market trends and monitor commercial performance through dedicated KPIs.

Contribute to the definition of channel commercial strategies by providing insights and best practices based on field experience. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree preferred. Experience in sales, Key Account Management, or customer management roles.

Experience in the Animal Health market and knowledge of Veterinary and/or Retail channels will be considered a strong advantage. Proven communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Experience in developing strategic partnerships with key customers and knowledge of Joint Business Planning processes.

Communication and Teamwork: excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external interactions; strong collaboration skills with the ability to build alignment and consensus among stakeholders. Planning and Organization: ability to plan, organize, execute, and monitor all phases of a project, ensuring timely completion. Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

Strong analytical mindset, results orientation, and a collaborative cross-functional approach. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. What we offer: For this position we offer a permanent contract. The gross annual base salary foreseen for this position ranges from €60.000 to €70.000, depending on candidate's skills and experience.
