About this role

The Bioprocessing Sales Specialist -Downstream Filtration is responsible for driving commercial growth and market adoption of Repligen downstream filtration solutions across Japan. The role develops strategic customer relationships, expands opportunities within key biopharmaceutical accounts, and accelerates adoption of Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), Hollow Fiber Filtration (HF), and related downstream processing technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate with account managers, Field Application Scientists (FAS), distributors, marketing, and global product teams to generate opportunities, advance technical evaluations, secure technical wins, and convert qualified opportunities into commercial revenue.

Responsibilities Commercial Leadership Develop and execute a territory sales strategy to achieve annual bookings and revenue targets. Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline through proactive opportunity generation and account penetration. Identify, qualify, and advance filtration opportunities through each stage of the sales cycle.

Lead deal advancement reviews to improve conversion, commercial discipline, and forecast accuracy. Maintain accurate opportunity, activity, forecast, and funnel data in Salesforce CRM. Filtration Business Development Drive adoption of TFF systems and consumables, Hollow Fiber products, process-scale and clinical-scale filtration technologies, and intensified or continuous bioprocessing solutions.

Position filtration technologies for monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, cell and gene therapy, vaccines, and plasma-derived therapeutics. Support customer needs across process development, scale-up, technology transfer, and GMP manufacturing. Strategic Account Management Prioritize strategic filtration accounts in Japan and develop account penetration plans and stakeholder maps.

Build relationships with Process Development, Manufacturing, MSAT, Procurement, and executive decision makers. Identify expansion opportunities across customer sites, modalities, and business units. Technical Selling and Customer Engagement Deliver consultative, application-led, and value-based selling engagements.

Conduct technical presentations, workshops, customer seminars, and lunch-and-learn sessions. Partner with FAS colleagues on evaluations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept studies. Translate customer process challenges into technically credible and commercially viable filtration solutions.

Distributor and Channel Development Enable distributor partners to create and progress qualified filtration opportunities. Conduct product training, joint account planning, and joint customer visits. Establish channel growth initiatives and monitor distributor contributions to pipeline and revenue.

Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with account managers, FAS, Product Management, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Service. Act as the voice of the customer and provide market intelligence on competitors, trends, and unmet needs. Support product launches, major customer projects, and relevant marketing programs in Japan.

Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or higher in biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, biological sciences, bioengineering, or a related life science discipline. Approximately 5-10+ years of relevant experience in bioprocessing, biomanufacturing, process development, technical sales, or application support. Experience with downstream purification and filtration technologies.

Demonstrated success against commercial objectives in the biopharmaceutical or life science industry. Experience engaging biopharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs, and research organizations in Japan. Business-level English, written and spoken. Ability to travel approximately 40-60% across Japan, with occasional APAC or global travel as required. First-Year Success Profile Establish focused coverage plans for priority filtration accounts in Japan.

Build a sustainable pipeline of TFF and Hollow Fiber opportunities. Increase filtration technology adoption within strategic biopharmaceutical customers. Progress technical evaluations into technical wins and measurable commercial growth.

Strengthen distributor capability and customer engagement across the filtration portfolio.
