Hybrid – Boston, MA: Collegium will relocate its headquarters to One Lincoln in downtown Boston in Q1 2027. Until the move, this role will be based at our current headquarters in Stoughton, MA. Employees are required to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week, both before and after the relocation.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director, Market Research & Insights will be responsible for leading the strategy, development, execution, and communication of market research and insight-generation capabilities that enable customer-centered, evidence-based decision making across the commercial organization. This role will serve as a strategic advisor to Commercial leadership by translating primary and secondary research, customer insights, market trends, and competitive dynamics into actionable recommendations that inform brand strategy, business planning, customer engagement, and growth opportunities.
This role will proactively identify key business questions, design insight-generation strategies, and deliver objective, fact-based recommendations related to the company’s products, customers, and competitive environment. This individual will partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Enterprise Analytics, and other key stakeholders to influence strategic and tactical decisions that maximize business performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- ✓Develop and lead the overall market research and insights strategy aligned with commercial priorities, brand objectives, and evolving business needs.
Provide strategic oversight and execution of
- ✓Primary market research with HCPs, caregivers, patients, and other key stakeholders.
- ✓Secondary research and insight development focused on patient/customer behavior, market dynamics, performance trends, and other business-critical insights.
Ensure market research initiatives deliver actionable insights by:
- ✓Defining key business questions and research objectives.
- ✓Ensuring appropriate methodology, execution quality, and strategic interpretation.
- ✓Translating complex findings into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
- ✓Driving application of insights into commercial strategy and execution.
- ✓Lead and manage external market research and insights generation vendor partnerships, ensuring quality deliverables, budget accountability, and alignment with business objectives.
- ✓Partner with Marketing leadership to develop deep customer insights, including HCP and Patient Journeys, identifying key behaviors, decision drivers, barriers, and opportunities to optimize engagement strategies.
- ✓Co-Lead the cross-functional development of the Situational Analysis, integrating multiple data sources and providing strategic interpretation of customer insights to product performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics.
- ✓Experience applying AI-enabled market research tools and generative AI technologies to enhance qualitative and quantitative pharmaceutical research, including insight generation, literature review, survey analysis, and reporting while ensuring data quality and compliance.
- ✓Knowledge of emerging AI applications in pharmaceutical market research, including large language models (LLMs), machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP), with the ability to evaluate, integrate, and optimize AI-driven methodologies to improve research efficiency and business insights.
- ✓Partner with Enterprise Analytics, Sales, and Marketing leadership to define and evolve brand and sales force Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with business priorities, brand strategies, and sales tactics.
- ✓Establish frameworks and processes to improve insight generation, research effectiveness, reporting clarity, and organizational decision making.
- ✓Serve as a trusted strategic partner to internal stakeholders by influencing decisions through data, insights, and strong business acumen.
- ✓Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic business environment.
- ✓Drive accountability for functional objectives, business outcomes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- ✓Communicate effectively to influence all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, using insights, data storytelling, and strategic recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- ✓Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or related field) preferred.
- ✓10+ years of progressive experience in market research, commercial insights generation, or related functions in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
- ✓Demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders and translating insights into strategic business decisions.
- ✓Strong understanding of primary research methodologies, secondary data sources, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and performance analytics.
- ✓Experience managing external vendors, budgets, and complex cross-functional initiatives.
- ✓Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly through executive-level presentations and storytelling.
Pay Range
$218,000—$262,000 USD
