The Director, Security, Americas is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of security strategy, policy, crisis management, and security operations across the Americas region. This role provides strategic direction and oversight for security support to LATAM, North America and Caribbean operations, manufacturing sites, and commercial affiliates. The role also leads financial planning, staffing strategy, contractor oversight, and process effectiveness for regional security initiatives.

The Director partners closely with business leaders and functional stakeholders to drive process effectiveness, strengthen resilience, and ensure security risks are identified, assessed, and appropriately managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead regional security strategy, governance, and execution across the Regions for manufacturing operations and commercial affiliates.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and controls aligned with AbbVie requirements, regulatory expectations, and business risk.
  • Provide leadership for crisis management preparedness and response in assigned region, including incident escalation, executive communications support, and coordination of continuity activities.
  • Facilitates business continuity planning for security-related risks and ensure appropriate integration with regional and enterprise-wide plans.
  • Direct regional security staffing strategy, including contractor management, resource planning, and budget oversight.
  • Partner with site leadership, operations, legal, compliance, HR, EHS, and other key stakeholders to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Provide strategic guidance and operational oversight for security support to AbbVie Global Security initiatives and programs in assigned region.
  • Support security programs for manufacturing and other critical sites to help ensure protection, operational continuity, and compliance.
  • Drive process improvement, standardization, metrics, and continuous enhancement of regional security programs.
  • Represent Security in cross-functional forums and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in security related roles leading regional or multi-country security programs including corporate security, global security, crisis management, business continuity, investigations, or a related discipline.
  • Law enforcement security operations experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, biopharma, or highly regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, contractors, and complex cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures, geographies, and matrixed organizations.
  • Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working in LATAM and familiarity with regional security considerations is highly desirable.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
