Device Research & Early Development Co-Op

We are seeking a motivated student to join our team focused on development and characterization of medical devices; the position offers students an opportunity to gain industry experience in testing, data analysis, and documentation in the regulated field of medical device development; student activities will contribute to organizational research and development goals; this role is local and onsite — candidates will be based at 1 Bayer Dr, Indianola, PA 15051.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop prototype components or subassemblies for test fixtures and future medical devices;
  • Develop test methods and protocols to be used for evaluation of medical devices;
  • Set up and execute experimental tests in a laboratory setting to provide data indicating the performance of medical devices;
  • Contribute to the development of data analysis tools to improve the efficiency of evaluating experimental results;
  • Prepare formal test reports to provide a record of testing activities and results;
  • Prepare and present findings to cross-functional program teams;
  • Contribute to deliverables supporting fielded products and required documentation for products under development.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program and returning to your program following completion of the co‑op;
  • Knowledge and application of engineering and scientific concepts;
  • Ability to apply technology, engineering concepts and methodologies to develop solutions;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment;
  • Experience with data analysis and application development in Python;
  • Previous lab or medical device experience;
  • Experience with hardware design and rapid prototyping, including mechanical and/or electrical design and fabrication.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant).

This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
