This role ensures accurate and timely delivery of assigned payroll cycles compliant with organizational and legal requirements and supports payroll operations queries and vendor coordination. The Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) HR Service Delivery Model is a Shared Service outsourced model, and this role will interface with business partners in HR Shared Services, People Services, and our outsourced payroll provider.
Role Description
Process assigned weekly and monthly payroll cycles accurately and within established internal, People Services, and vendor cutoff deadlines.
Complete required trial review and sign-off steps (Day 1 and Day 2 processing) for each assigned pay cycle.
General knowledge of payroll and related end-to-end processes.
Analyze data to perform master data entries into the payroll system.
Communicate effectively with the payroll provider to complete payroll activities and resolve situations timely.
Coordinate with other departments to resolve discrepancies or missing data ahead of cutoff.
Complete cross-training on additional payroll cycles over time, progressing toward serving as a qualified backup processor for other payrolls.
Escalate complex payroll items (e.g., legal settlements and overpayment recoveries) to the appropriate team member.
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and personal data.
Proactively maintain technical knowledge in assigned payroll area(s).
Role Requirements
Minimum of 1–3-year payroll relevant business experience, including experience with payroll.
Fluent in Excel, specifically with v-look up and pivot tables.
Understanding of Payroll Tax, Compliance Regulations and Labor Standards as it relates to payroll processing, is a plus.
Experience with ADP systems, including SAP GlobalView, and with time and attendance systems preferably UKG, is a plus.
Knowledge of Puerto Rico/Canada and multi-state payroll is a plus.
Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
High School Diploma Required
