About this role

6 MONTH CONTRACT --- ONSITE IN CAMBRIDGE, MA

Company Summary

Ring Therapeutics Inc. is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company pioneering a new field of targeted medicines by exploiting naturally occurring commensal viruses. Ring Therapeutics is leveraging this versatile technology to develop a broad pipeline of novel, targeted medicines for diseases with high unmet medical need.

Ring Therapeutics was founded in Flagship Pioneering’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA) and Generate Biomedicines (NASDAQ: GENB) were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of more than 100 scientific ventures resulting in more than 500 issued patents and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Scientist to join the Analytical Development & Testing team.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role supporting analytical testing and characterization of VDCs (Vector Drug Conjugates), VOCs (Vector Oligo Conjugates), and other conjugated biologics. The successful candidate will bring broad hands-on experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation, along with the ability to independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot assays.

Candidates with experience in analytical development or research environments are encouraged to apply. Experience with techniques such as HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CE), and other protein and biologics characterization methods is highly valued, but we are particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate strong experimental skills, scientific problem-solving, and the ability to learn and apply new analytical technologies.

This role is ideal for a versatile experimentalist who is comfortable working in a fast-evolving environment, adapting to changing priorities, and contributing to the development and optimization of new analytical methods.

Key Responsibilities

Analytical Execution

  • Perform hands-on analytical testing Chromatography (SEC, HIC, IEX, RPC), MALS, Capillary electrophoresis (cIEF, CZE, CE-SDS) and other advanced technologies.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot analytical methods for the characterization of proteins, conjugated biologics, and related modalities.
  • Support analytical characterization of VDC (Vector Drug Conjugate) and VOC (Vector Oligo Conjugate) or other conjugated biologics, including payload-related analytics using HPLC and CE-based methods
  • Characterize critical quality attributes (CQAs) such as purity, aggregation, size, and charge variants
  • Perform sample preparation, assay setup, and analytical data analysis for routine analytical workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field with 0-2 years of industry experience, or M.S. with 7+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong background in protein science and demonstrated ability to independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot analytical assays
  • Broad hands-on experience with protein characterization techniques and analytical instrumentation
  • Strong attention to detail and scientific problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs in a dynamic environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CE-SDS using capillary electrophoresis platforms (e.g., Maurice™, ProteinSimple or PA800 Plus, SCIEX)
  • Experience with Orbitrap Exploris™ 240 Mass Spectrometer
  • Experience with automated Western blot systems (Jess™, ProteinSimple) and Western blot
  • Exposure to biologics analytical development environments

We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

We recognize that great candidates often bring unique strengths without fulfilling every qualification. If you have some of the experience listed above but not all, please apply anyway. We are dedicated to building diverse and inclusive teams and look forward to learning more about your background and interest in Ring Therapeutics.

The pay range for this role is $48 - $62 per hour and the contractor will be employed by a third-party staffing company. Certain employee benefits may be available to the contractor through the staffing company after meeting minimum criteria. Compensation and benefits information is based on Ring Therapeutics, Inc.'s good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
