For more information about our company please visit our website: https://www.iqvia.com/ Associate Principal in Health Technology Assessment Strategy and Implementation Role Overview This is a senior leadership role within the Global Health Economics and HTA team, with a focus on health technology assessment (HTA), market access and strategic offerings. The Associate Principal will lead complex client engagements, develop senior client relationships, contribute to business growth, shape future service offerings and support the development of the HTA practice.
The successful candidate will: Act as a senior strategic advisor to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device clients on HTA evidence planning, market access strategy and reimbursement optimisation. Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-value global and regional HTA programmes, with limited senior oversight. Guide clients through evolving HTA requirements, including EU Joint Clinical Assessments, national HTA submissions, early scientific advice, evidence planning and reimbursement processes.
Shape and evolve IQVIA’s HTA consulting offerings in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for HTA Evidence and Strategy and the wider senior leadership team. Identify emerging HTA and market access trends and translate them into relevant, innovative client solutions. Develop and maintain senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities to expand existing accounts and build new relationships.
Support HTA-related business development opportunities, which may include supporting proposal development, scope definition, pricing and contract discussions, with appropriate senior input. Provide executive oversight across multiple concurrent projects and programmes, ensuring scientific quality, strategic relevance, client satisfaction and commercial performance. Lead senior client discussions, steering committee interactions, problem solving, negotiation and risk mitigation across complex engagements.
Work collaboratively across internal IQVIA teams, including technical consultants responsible for generating HTA evidence and complementary functions such as Market Access, Patient-Centered Solutions, HTA Accelerator Solutions, database studies and local teams across the globe. Act as a role model, coach and mentor for consultants, senior consultants and emerging leaders, creating opportunities that support their career development as HTA specialists. Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning and capability development across the team.
Provide formal line management responsibilities, as appropriate. Lead and contribute to thought leadership on HTA topics, including conference abstracts and posters, white papers, peer-reviewed publications and external presentations. Represent IQVIA at relevant industry conferences, scientific meetings, client forums and other external events.
The demand for IQVIA’s HTA offerings continues to expand in response to evolving HTA processes across the globe. The Associate Principal will play an important role in shaping the team’s strategy, client portfolio, people and HTA offerings, while having opportunities to expand their portfolio into other areas if desired. The successful candidate We are looking for a candidate with a strong combination of academic and professional experience, deep HTA domain expertise, commercial acumen, leadership capability and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with translating clinical data to support a product value proposition within the context of regional / national HTA submissions and early HTA scientific advice, as well as a proven record of navigating HTA processes strategically to optimise product access, reimbursement and value communication. The ideal candidate will understand the organisational structures and decision-making processes typical of pharmaceutical and life sciences clients, and will be able to influence senior stakeholders, lead multidisciplinary teams and translate complex evidence challenges into clear strategic recommendations. Qualifications and desired experience: Postgraduate degree level education or higher in a relevant discipline, such as HTA, health economics, economics, life sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, medicine, pharmacy, etc. AND typically, 8 or more years of relevant experience in consulting, the pharmaceutical sector, an HTA agency, academia or a related environment. Extensive experience preparing evidence strategies and submissions aligned with HTA processes and requirements in the UK and/or Europe, together with involvement in appraisal, scientific advice or negotiation processes where relevant.
Demonstrated success in managing complex client engagements, multidisciplinary teams and portfolios of projects. A strong commercial track record, including client relationship development, proposal leadership, scope and budget development, and contribution to business generation. Demonstrable commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry; an established network of HEOR, HTA or market access contacts is highly desirable.
Strong people leadership, coaching and capability-development skills; previous line management experience is desirable. Strategic thinking and attention to detail. Previous experience in a consultancy environment is highly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. Applications should be submitted in English. Strong understanding of the design of clinical trials, statistical methods used in clinical trials, and methodology for evidence synthesis is highly desirable.
Quantitative skills, including biostatistics and health economic modelling methods and good knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g., STATA, R) is highly desirable.
