Find out more: Our approach to R&D Position Summary As the Staff AI/ML Engineer - Sequence Learning you will design, build and deploy sequence learning models that help researchers answer important biological questions. You will work closely with scientists, engineers and product teams across locations.

These responsibilities include some of the following: Research, design and implement sequence-based machine learning models for biological data. Build and maintain reproducible training and evaluation pipelines for model development. Collaborate with experimental and domain experts to shape problem definitions and data collection.

Deliver production-quality code, containerized services and model monitoring workflows. Mentor peers and share best practices for model validation, robustness and reproducibility. Contribute to cross-team initiatives that scale sequence learning capabilities across research.

Why You? Work arrangement: This role follows a hybrid working model based in Germany. You will be expected to be on-site part of the working week.

Fully remote arrangements are not available. Basic Qualification We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals Master’s degree or higher in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, engineering, mathematics or related field; or equivalent practical experience. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in machine learning or deep learning engineering.

Demonstrable experience developing models for sequence data (for example genomics, proteins, or other biological sequences). Strong programming skills in Python and practical experience with at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow). Experience delivering production-ready ML systems, including version control, testing, containerization and CI/CD.

Fluent English communication skills. German language skills are a plus but not required. Preferred Qualification If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus PhD in a quantitative field or computational life sciences.

Experience with large-scale training on HPC or cloud platforms and familiarity with distributed training. Background working with multimodal biological data (omics, imaging, clinical records). Demonstrated knowledge of model validation, uncertainty quantification and evaluation best practices.

Contributions to open-source projects or peer-reviewed publications in ML or computational biology. Experience working in hybrid, cross-functional and international teams. What success looks like Clear, well-tested sequence models that support research decisions.

Reusable, documented ML pipelines and reproducible experiments. Strong working relationships with scientific and engineering partners. Practical improvements in model robustness, explainability and deployment speed.

These ranges take into account a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position may offer an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
