Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a Research Animal Caretaker to join our dynamic team in Madison, WI!
Work Schedule : Monday-Friday 6:30 am-3:30 pm CST some weekends required. Job Responsibilities: The Research Animal Caretaker will care and handle the animals by assisting with health surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment for toxicity studies. You will work closely with various professionals and ensure compliance with laws and guidelines.
Monitoring animal health and welfare, and upholding a Culture of Care, will be your top priorities. Ensure animals are cared for and handled according to regulatory guidelines and ethical principles. Perform animal husbandry duties and report any care concerns.
Learn and apply regulatory requirements and animal behavior techniques. Clean and maintain equipment and animal areas. Prepare for and receive new animals, monitor their health, and document relevant information.
Collect and review data according to study plans, maintaining accurate records. Work with multiple species and support study-related tasks. Perform technical procedures and clinical sampling on various species.
Support other departments with tasks such as animal restraint and blood collection. Identify and communicate potential process improvements. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Animal Science, or related Life Science disciplines) OR Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology plus 6 months or more of experience in clinical support, laboratory animal care, or assisting veterinary or research staff in a regulated laboratory or research environment.
Preferred Qualifications: AALAS Certification 6 months or more of related animal care experience or relevant certifications, including husbandry, veterinary assistance, or laboratory support. Additional Job Standards: 18 years of age or older. Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Comfortable working in environments that follow strict sanitation and animal care protocols. Exceptional customer service. Strong communication skills: both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Comfortable working under minimal supervision. Pay Range: $21/hr.–$24/hr.
