In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the category strategy for Marketing Services, with a focus on Advertising and Medical Communications .
As Strategic Sourcing Manager, Marketing Advertising and Medical Communication. You will play a key role in developing and executing sourcing strategies that align with commercial, medical, and enterprise objectives. This includes leading sourcing initiatives, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and enabling third-party solutions that accelerate high-quality commercial advertising, medical communications, and compliant omnichannel engagement.
In this role, you will: Build and manage strategic partnerships across Global Marketing, Global Medical, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, and Procurement teams. Deliver value through cost optimization, supplier innovation, improved speed-to-market, and scalable content production capabilities. Lead sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract development for commercial advertising, medical communications, medical education, promotional and non-promotional content, and content operations.
Partner with stakeholders to optimize the end-to-end innovative content development, including modular content, digital asset management, AI-enabled content creation, and content reuse strategies. Help ensure supplier compliance with quality, regulatory, legal, privacy, and medical governance requirements while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. Your work will help strengthen Amgen's content ecosystem by enabling compliant, high-quality, and efficient primary (core) content development and medical communications that improve customer engagement, accelerate speed-to-market, and support the company's mission and future product growth.
Key Responsibilities Support the development of the continuously evolving category strategy for Creative (Core) Advertising and Medical Communications, ensuring alignment with commercial, medical, and enterprise priorities. Lead strategic sourcing initiatives with a focus on creative and medical agencies along with related eco-system services. Deliver measurable business value through cost optimization, supplier innovation, operational excellence, and enhanced creative development across the category.
Optimize total cost of ownership by improving agency service models, driving efficiency across the category while maximizing supplier performance and value. Monitor and improve supplier performance through structured supplier relationship management, governance, service level agreements, and performance metrics. Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to regulatory compliance, quality, and supplier continuity.
Leverage data and analytics to measure category performance and key performance indicators, including speed-to-market, innovative core content development, supplier performance, and overall value realization. Partner cross-functionally across Global Marketing, Global Medical, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Commercial, and regional teams to ensure sourcing strategies support enterprise standards while enabling local market needs. Collaborate with external partners, peer networks, and industry organizations to stay ahead of evolving agency delivery models, AI-enabled content development, medical communications trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices.
Demonstrate expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements that balance business value, quality, compliance, intellectual property protection, and enterprise procurement objectives. The Strategic Sourcing Management professional we seek is a Manager with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree and 6 years of business partnering, category management, strategic sourcing and/or related experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience in business partnering, category management, strategic sourcing, and/or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership in Strategic Sourcing across Creative Advertising Agency, Medical Communications, and related agency services, including supplier management, cost optimization, and performance measurement. Deep understanding of Strategic Sourcing principles, supplier relationship management, and contract lifecycle management within regulated healthcare and life sciences environments. Strong financial, legal, and contractual acumen with experience negotiating complex commercial agreements for creative agency services, medical communications and related services.
Proven track record of driving innovation in category strategy, creative agency operating models, supplier engagement, and cross-functional stakeholder partnerships. Exceptional ability to communicate complex category strategies, influence senior stakeholders, and lead change across Global Marketing, Medical, Procurement, Legal, Regulatory, and regional organizations. Familiarity with procurement technologies such as Ariba, Scout, and Sirion Labs, as well as ERP systems and analytics platforms used to support sourcing decisions, supplier performance, and process automation.
Experience leveraging spend analytics, supplier benchmarking, and market intelligence to inform category strategies and identify opportunities for value creation. Strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment governing pharmaceutical marketing and medical communications, including promotional content development. Knowledge of emerging trends in creative agency models, modular content, digital asset management, AI-enabled content creation, and omnichannel content delivery, with the ability to translate market innovations into business value.
Ability to articulate a forward-looking business and category vision for Creative Agency model delivery and Medical Communications and build alignment around a strategic, value-driven roadmap.
