JOB DESCRIPTION: Operations Scientist II - Test Method Specialist Abbott Diabetes Care With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems, for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures significant volumes of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014.
The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Test Method Validation Specialist to join our Technical Services team in the role of Operations Scientist II, supporting technical product release at Witney, West Oxfordshire. In this role you will be integral for the transfer of scientific test methods from R&D to Operations, including leading validation activities in our product release laboratory. Day-to-day, you will support the test method requirements for the transfer of product from R&D to Operations.
You will: Create validation documents, including plans, protocols and reports. Oversee Test Method Validation activities for the sensor release laboratory. Provide process development and characterisation support for new sensor test methods.
Support sensor release laboratory operational requirements. Have knowledge of change control procedures and processes. Work cross functionally to support the transfer of test method from R&D.
Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory guidelines. Encourage open technical exchange with other departments / projects. Actively identify improvement opportunities.
Present technical information to team meetings Consistently demonstrates recognised behaviours. Why You? To be successful, you will have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or Engineering discipline, and will bring prior experience of test method development and validation with a preference for candidates with test method validation experience.
You must have excellent attention to detail skills, a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to prioritise and manage projects, and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands. A lot of your work will involve cross-functional teams, so you’ll also need the communication and inter-personal skills to be able to build relationships with colleagues in various departments across the business. Good IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint are also required for this role.
