This role
The Senior Machinist is a key member of a high-performing manufacturing support team responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment and tooling within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting daily operations through precision machining, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- ✓Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient machine shop environment while supporting manufacturing operations.
- ✓Manage project activities, including cost tracking, material procurement, consumable inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
- ✓Repair and refurbish manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and production equipment as required.
- ✓Set up, program, and operate CNC machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, saws, and grinders.
- ✓Inspect and verify finished parts for dimensional accuracy and conformance to drawings and quality standards.
- ✓Utilize CMM equipment to inspect, measure, and reverse-engineer components.
- ✓Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- ✓Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- ✓Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues.
- ✓Support continuous improvement efforts. Qualifications and Experience
Required qualifications
- ✓High School Diploma or GED.
- ✓Minimum of five years of machining experience or a machining-related technical degree.
- ✓Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- ✓Experience programming and operating CNC lathes and mills.
- ✓Strong knowledge of machining practices and precision tolerances.
- ✓Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications
- ✓TIG welding experience.
- ✓Metal fabrication experience.
- ✓Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Physical and Safety Requirements
- ✓Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- ✓Ability to lift up to 20 pounds overhead.
- ✓Ability to stand for extended periods.
- ✓Ability to wear required PPE.
- ✓Willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
