Position Description

Latigo is seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Senior Director, Scientific Communications to lead the development and execution of scientific communications strategy across our portfolio of clinical-stage, non-opioid pain programs.

This individual will be responsible for translating emerging clinical and scientific evidence into clear, compelling, and scientifically rigorous communications for healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, and other key stakeholders. The role will lead publication planning, congress strategy, scientific platforms, and development of core scientific materials while partnering closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and other functions. A successful candidate will bring strong scientific acumen, strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

This role will report directly to the Vice President, Medical Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of the Scientific Communications strategy, aligned with Medical Affairs, clinical development, and corporate objectives
  • Develop and maintain the scientific narrative and communication platform across Latigo's pain portfolio
  • Lead publication planning and execution, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations
  • Develop and execute the scientific congress strategy, including prioritization and sequencing of data across key congresses
  • Partner across matrix teams to identify and prioritize publication opportunities, evidence gaps, and data dissemination needs
  • Lead development of scientific materials, including scientific platforms, core medical decks, FAQs, field medical resources, dossiers, and other medical content
  • Ensure scientific communications are accurate, consistent, balanced, and compliant with applicable standards and requirements
  • Partner with internal and external authors, investigators, and opinion leaders to support high-quality and timely scientific publications
  • Manage external medical writing, publication, and scientific communications agencies, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Support pre-launch and launch readiness through development of scientific communications, training resources, and foundational medical content
  • Provide scientific communications leadership across cross-functional teams and help build Medical Affairs capabilities as Latigo grows

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or other advanced scientific/healthcare degree preferred
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience, with significant experience in Scientific Communications, Publications, or Medical Affairs
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing global publication and scientific communications strategies
  • Experience supporting late-stage development, pre-launch, and/or launch strongly preferred
  • Strong track record of developing manuscripts, abstracts, congress presentations, scientific platforms, and medical materials
  • Experience working with external authors, opinion leaders, publication agencies, and medical writing partners
  • Scientific expertise in pain, neuroscience, or a related therapeutic area desirable
  • Strong understanding of publication standards and good publication practices
  • Exceptional scientific writing, communication, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills, with a strong focus on execution
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biotech environment

Location & Travel

This is a remote role. Candidate should be willing to travel approximately 20–30% for internal meetings, scientific congresses, and external scientific engagements.
