About this role

About Probably Genetic

Probably Genetic is changing the lives of patients living with severe, complex diseases. Our data platform is used by drug developers and patient advocacy groups to develop and launch treatments for these patients. Our technology discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes their disease state using machine learning and at-home testing, and enables compliant communication with patients.

In doing so, we help patients access diagnoses, clinical trials, and treatments as early as possible.

We are a tight-knit group of hard-working, ambitious problem solvers united by a mission greater than ourselves. We do well by doing right by patients. We are developing some of the most cutting-edge solutions in healthcare, and our roadmap is packed with innovations in bioinformatics, AI, and drug development. We have built a lean, all-star team to help us bring our vision to life, and we want you to be a part of it.

Probably Genetic has raised multiple rounds of funding from Silicon Valley’s best investors, including Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator, and offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful early stage equity.

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Community Marketing to build and lead our community marketing strategy for the patients, families, and caregivers of the rare disease population we serve. You'll turn a scattered, often isolated population into an engaged community, and turn that community into a growth engine for Probably Genetic.

What you will do

Define and own our community marketing strategy, spanning virtual (social, online groups, content, email) and in-person (events, conferences, meetups, fundraisers) channels

Develop original campaign concepts to activate and grow patient and caregiver communities

Build and own relationships with patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and foundations across hundreds of rare diseases, strengthening existing partnerships and cultivating new ones

Test and iterate across tactics, including referral and email outreach, PAG partnerships and sponsorships, events, participant compensation, and paid media

Track how community efforts influence key metrics, including patient acquisition and CAC, and adjust strategy accordingly

Build scalable, repeatable playbooks for community-driven growth

Represent Probably Genetic at conferences, fundraisers, and community events, with regular travel expected

Who you are

We are looking for a few specific things that will help you succeed in this role:

5-10 years of experience in community marketing or community-led growth at a consumer brand known for genuine community engagement (health/wellness, fitness, productivity, or lifestyle products with passionate user bases are a strong fit)

A track record of building or significantly growing a community with active participation, members creating content, referring others, and organizing around the brand themselves

Creative instincts for community activation, from concept to execution

Fluency in both virtual and in-person community building

Comfort using data to guide decisions and identify what's driving growth, engagement, and CAC

Genuine empathy for engaging a sensitive, high-stakes population; you never lose sight of the real people behind the community

Strong written and verbal communication; you can shape a brand's voice and adapt it to a high-trust context

Willingness to travel regularly for events and partner meetings

Some things that are not required, but you will learn on the job:

Familiarity with the rare disease landscape or existing relationships within the rare disease community

As with all new hires at Probably Genetic, you will also need to be:

A good person. We work with some of the most marginalized populations on the planet and empathy is key

Patient-focused and motivated to have a lasting, positive impact on humanity

Comfortable in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with rapid change

Action-oriented and excited to build a company from the ground up

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$185,000 annually. Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs.

What we offer at Probably Genetic
