AstraZeneca is building its first biologics manufacturing campus in Singapore — a groundbreaking USD 1.5 billion investment that will serve as a global hub for innovation and excellence. This innovative facility will deliver end-to-end Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) capabilities with different manufacturing units/buildings in one campus: Small molecule- chemical API production Large molecule- monoclonal antibody manufacturing Conjugation Fill-and-finish operations, including sterile filling and lyophilization Final secondary packaging The campus will be equipped with innovative digital and automation infrastructure, enabling autonomous manufacturing powered by artificial intelligence.

In addition, it will be designed for carbon neutrality, embedding sustainability into every aspect of operations and setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible biologic's manufacturing. As an Engineering Specialist for Automation, you will be a key technical owner for Siemens PLC, WinCC SCADA, and TIA Portal platforms on site. You will guide projects from concept to qualification, tackle complex investigations, and turn insights into reliable, compliant solutions that unlock throughput, quality, and cost efficiencies. Accountabilities: Automation System Ownership: Act as the technical owner for defined automation areas, providing lead expertise across the full lifecycle of on-site automation systems and offering technical consultancy to stake-holders to ensure reliability, compliance, and scalability. Project Execution and Start-Up: Manage or provide technical support to project execution, start-up, and site operations readiness with a focus on automation system management to drive safe and timely delivery into production. Planning to Implementation: Manage and implement project activities from planning through implementation, providing functional expertise to project owners and leading small teams when required to accelerate outcomes.

Standards and Option Selection: Identify, evaluate, recommend, and select technical options aligned to global or industry standards and local business priorities to maximize value and minimize risk. multi-functional Coordination: Co-ordinate resources within operational and project teams, and across the site, to deliver value-based outcomes and maintain business continuity. Siemens Platform Support: Support the operation and maintenance of Siemens PLC, WinCC SCADA, and TIA Portal and associated automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environment to ensure stable, compliant performance. Trouble-shooting and Diagnostics: Perform trouble-shooting and diagnostics for automation software, hardware, control logic, alarms, communications, and system interfaces to rapidly restore service and prevent recurrence.

Configuration and Modifications: Support system configuration and modifications within Siemens PLC, WinCC SCADA, and TIA Portal in accordance with approved procedures and site standards to ensure controlled, auditable changes. Lifecycle Management: Assist with lifecycle management activities for PLC systems, including maintenance, backup, periodic review, and controlled updates to sustain integrity and support future readiness. Preventive Maintenance: Support routine PM activities for package units and associated automation systems to maintain reliability, availability, and compliance.

System Integrations: Support interfaces between package units and connected systems such as Historian, MES, LIMS, and other integrated platforms to enable seamless data flow and decision-making. Change Implementation: Contribute to automation change implementation, ensuring activities are completed in line with quality, engineering, and compliance requirements to protect product and patient. Technical-Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical-documentation, including SOPs, test records, specifications, and system-related documentation to meet audit-ready standards.

FAT/SAT, Commissioning, and Qualification: Support FAT and SAT activities, as well as commissioning and qualification-related execution where applicable to bring new capabilities online efficiently. Regulatory Readiness: Participate in FDA audits and other regulatory inspections by supporting audit readiness and responding to automation-related requests with clarity and evidence. multi-functional Problem Solving: Work with stake-holders across manufacturing, engineering, quality, validation, maintenance, and digital/IT teams to resolve issues and deliver sustained improvements. Digital and AI Enablement: Use approved AI tools and digital capabilities to improve work efficiency, support analysis, and strengthen documentation and trouble-shooting workflows.

Performance Visibility: Contribute to automation dashboards and reporting to improve visibility of alarms, system performance, event trends, and operational insights in support of autonomous manufacturing. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen system reliability, maintainability, compliance, and business continuity. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with site procedures, safety standards, data integrity expectations, regulatory requirements, and digital governance requirements to uphold trust and license to operate.

Essential Skills/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering Mastery in understanding of principles and concepts in technical area of engineering Experience in Siemens PLC, WinCC SCADA, and TIA Portal /MES/LIMS/Historian.
