About this role
The Opportunity: Reporting to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs, Emerging Affiliates, as the Associate Director, Country Medical Lead, Brazil , you will be responsible for the delivery of the medical strategy plan and execution of scientific activities in the country and have overall responsibility for ensuring high quality scientific medical input and clinical strategic direction to support the Therapeutic Area teams to deliver growth in the country. You will provide and ensure medical expertise and guide medical strategies at regional level, and pro-actively collaborating cross functionally with multiple areas, including sales & marketing, market access, clinical development, pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs. You will provide leadership to direct reports (MSL) and wider medical affairs team, setting direction and ensuring team alignment while developing and retaining key talent, and you will be responsible for increasing scientific credibility and the ethical image of CSL, facilitating and encouraging the Group's product strategy.
You will also promote, develop, and maintain strong scientific and medical relationships with Key opinion leaders, Public Health Bodies and other stakeholders such as patient associations, scientific expert associations and regulatory authorities. You will will uphold the integrity of the company by being responsible for medical governance at the In the country level. In this role, you will have direct reports responsible for leading on Medical Education.
This is a hybrid role, requiring three (3) days of onsite work weekly. #LI-hybrid The Role: Provides strategic and inspirational leadership and shapes a high-performance culture. Leads the medical team to ensure high quality delivery of tangible and actionable scientific evidence for local studies or in collaboration with the global evidence generation group for global studies, to internal and external customers. Translates and defines the In the country medical strategy in accordance with the Global Medical and In the country strategy and the regional and local priorities.
Proactive in identifying emerging trends, integrating them into medical strategic areas, given the stage of product development, business unit/therapeutic areas issues and the market context. Serves as medical expert to marketing, market access, pricing & HEOR, commercial and research project teams, providing input to evidence generation projects, clinical research initiatives and promotional and educational materials. Bring the medical and scientific expertise needed to build local strategic product/ franchise plans and therefore In the country Medical plan, and In the country brand plans in alignment with Global Medical Plan and Global Brand plans respectively.
Maintains proactive and broad relationships with key contacts in the affiliate’s healthcare environment as part of a coordinated stakeholder plan to secure involvement in stakeholder discussions and to position CSL within key healthcare initiatives within our therapeutic areas. Openly exchanges with external stakeholders to build on innovative concepts. Develops strong thought leaders’ relationships in therapeutic area and works closely with public organizations and external bodies.
Guides the Scientists Team and the Field Medical Team (MSL) to develop strategy and plans for medical information exchange with thought leaders, other Key Medical and Scientific external stakeholders and patient advocacy groups. Ensures scientific balance and the ethics, transparency, quality and compliance of all medical activities. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures in the context of interactions with health professionals, learned societies or external providers.
Oversees Medical Signatory for certification of promotional items (where applicable), hospitality, donations and advisory board compliance with respective In the country code of Practice and Legislative requirements. Your Skills & Abilities: MD or Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD) with relevant scientific background; business experience/degree desirable. Minimum 10 years' pharmaceutical/ biotherapeutics industry relevant experience to allow for clinical experience), preferably in a medical sub-specialty relevant to CSL product lines.
Which should include both clinical research and medical affairs to senior level. Strong and demonstrable team and cross-functional leadership capability, including second line management. Proven Leadership track record Experience in managing people-managers.
In depth knowledge of product literature and publications (and competitor) relevant to therapy area. Scientific knowledge (incl. product, disease, competitive trials and publications). Knowledge of data generation (incl. clinical trials design and execution).
MI & Safety knowledge and management. Insight generation. External stakeholder management (identification, mapping, collaboration & partnership.
Scientific communication and presentation skills (data dissemination). Crossfunctional alignment. Travel Requirements: Domestic and International travel may be required from time to time.
