Job Summary: CSA Group is seeking an experienced Product Test Engineer to support the Energy Efficiency Verification (EEV) Fuel-Burning group in our Cleveland, OH office.

Reporting directly to the Product Group Manager (PGM), this position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail oriented professional with strong technical and problem solving skills. The Product Test Engineer will be responsible for conducting and coordinating testing activities for fuel burning (Water Heaters, Boilers, and Furnaces) to verify compliance with applicable energy efficiency standards. This role includes test setup, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, data collection and analysis, test report preparation, troubleshooting, and collaboration with internal teams and customers.

The successful candidate will be systematic, process focused, and capable of balancing attention to detail while supporting the successful execution of multiple projects in a fast paced laboratory environment. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Perform energy efficiency and performance testing of fuel-burning appliances in accordance with applicable standards, test methods, and company procedures. Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for testing activities.

Collect, analyze, and validate test data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Prepare test plans, maintain detailed test records, and generate accurate test reports within established timelines. Execute multiple testing projects simultaneously while meeting quality, schedule, and productivity expectations.

Work independently to identify testing issues, develop solutions, and escalate concerns when necessary. Support the evaluation of new, unique, or complex products by assisting with test method interpretation and technical problem solving. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project managers to determine testing requirements, sample needs, project schedules, and resource allocation.

Review test results for completeness and technical accuracy prior to submission for certification or customer review. Assist with laboratory improvements, equipment calibrations, method development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all testing activities are conducted in accordance with applicable safety procedures, quality requirements, and laboratory best practices.

Communicate project status, technical findings, and testing challenges effectively with internal teams and customers. Maintain a high level of productivity while supporting customer expectations for quality, responsiveness, and turnaround times. Support training and mentoring of technicians and less-experienced team members on testing procedures and laboratory practices.

Participate in maintaining laboratory organization, equipment readiness, and compliance with 5S, safety, and quality programs. Travel as needed to support audit and witness testing activities at manufacturer facilities, ensuring accurate execution of test methods and data collection. Preferred Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 0-2 or more years of job related experience; or Degree / Diploma in Engineering Technology or related technical field with 2-4 or more years experience.

Experience working with HVAC products is an asset. High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills, strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented. Strong organizational, time and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner Ability to work unsupervised, in a team-based work environment.

Reads, interprets and develops engineering drawings. Technical report writing. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
