Job Description: The Senior Business Analyst partners with R&D, Medical, and IT stakeholders to deliver business-focused, compliant, and scalable digital solutions. The role is responsible for defining and managing business requirements, analyzing and optimizing business processes, evaluating solution options, and ensuring alignment between business needs and technology capabilities.
Through effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration across delivery teams, the Senior Business Analyst enables successful solution implementation, business adoption, and realization of expected business value while ensuring compliance with quality, security, privacy, and GxP/CSV requirements. WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies The Senior Business Analyst will: Plan and facilitate discovery workshops, interviews, and working sessions to define business objectives, scope, pain points, opportunities, risks, and success measures. Own the requirements lifecycle, including elicitation, analysis, prioritization, validation, approval, change control, and traceability.
Translate business needs into clear, testable business, functional, non-functional, data, reporting, integration, security, and compliance requirements, producing fit-for-purpose deliverables including business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, workflows, use cases, functional specifications, and RFP inputs. Assess solution options and recommend approaches that balance business value, user experience, cost, timeline, risk, compliance, and technical feasibility. Analyse current-state and future-state processes and recommend opportunities for standardization, simplification, automation, data integration, and digital innovation.
Assess business process and organizational impacts of proposed solutions and support change readiness activities. Partner with data and analytics teams to define critical data elements, business rules, data quality needs, and reporting or analytical requirements. Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, IT teams, vendors, and implementation partners across a global matrix organization.
Support stakeholder alignment through solution design reviews, testing, deployment readiness, training, and post-implementation adoption activities. Embed applicable GxP, CSV, quality, cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory requirements into business and solution deliverables. Partner with Quality and CSV teams on risk assessments, validation planning, requirements traceability, UAT, test evidence, and controlled documentation.
Ensure business requirements, business traceability requirements, and business analysis documentation is complete, accurate, approved, and audit-ready. Contribute to business case development, benefits identification, and business scope definition. Share business analysis best practices, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis standards and templates.
Knowledge and Experience - Essential 6-9+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Product Analyst, or equivalent role supporting business and IT transformation initiatives. 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, clinical research, quality, regulatory affairs, or medical affairs environments. Demonstrated expertise in requirements elicitation, process modelling, workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and solution evaluation.
Ability to translate complex business needs into clear solution specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process models, test scenarios, and decision materials. Strong stakeholder management, communication, workshop and requirements gathering facilitation, and influencing skills, including experience working with senior business and IT stakeholders. Working knowledge of GxP/CSV principles, regulated environments, data privacy, security, quality documentation, and applicable lifecycle controls.
Experience working with cross-functional IT teams, external vendors, system integrators, and SaaS providers. Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery methodologies. Experience with SaaS platforms, integrations, analytics, and data-driven solutions.
Experience preparing, coordinating, and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities. Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and influence decisions in a matrix organization. Knowledge of IT SDLC processes, with knowledge of GxP validation processes.
Strong written and verbal English communication, presentation, negotiation, and documentation skills. Knowledge and Experience - Preferred Experience supporting one or more R&D or Medical technology domains. Experience contributing to business cases, effort estimation, and solution option evaluations.
French language proficiency Education and Certifications - Preferred Master’s or advanced degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Administration, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
