Staff Accountant I Location: El Segundo, CA Work Schedule: Hybrid (Employees are required to work onsite in our El Segundo office three days per week) Department: Finance & Accounting Experience Level: 1-2 Years Position Summary The Staff Accountant I applies accounting principles to analyze and interpret financial information, prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist in the preparation of financial reports. This position plays an integral role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, cash accounting activities, audit support, process improvement initiatives, and maintaining the integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative accounting team while helping improve accounting processes and controls.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Core Tasks Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare and post journal entries, and assist in the preparation of financial statements. Maintain and monitor accounting records related to disbursements, expenses, tax payments, income, and other general ledger activities. Prepare account reconciliations, research variances, and record correcting entries as needed.
Compile and analyze financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, verify accuracy, and identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies. Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow reports, as well as supporting schedules and other financial analyses. Process cash transactions for multiple domestic and international entities, ensuring timely and accurate recording of cash receipts, disbursements, bank transfers, and related journal entries.
Assist with the preparation and consolidation of financial statements and supporting schedules. Design, modify, implement, and/or maintain accounting systems and processes to ensure accurate recognition and reporting of financial transactions. Prepare intercompany billing statements and respond to inquiries related to intercompany transactions.
Support compliance with accounting policies, auditing standards, internal controls, and company procedures. Assist in the preparation of technical accounting and financial reporting analyses and position papers, including support for revenue recognition, segment reporting, acquisitions, and discontinued operations. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external and internal auditors.
Document accounting policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) utilized by accounting and cross-functional teams. Recommend and implement process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and strengthen controls. Leverage available technology, reporting tools, and automation solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Independently lead ad hoc assignments and special projects as requested by accounting management. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience 1-2 years of accounting experience. Internship experience or exposure to corporate accounting environments is a plus. Required Skills Technical Skills General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets while maintaining data integrity. Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of corporate financial information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with SAP. Knowledge of Power Query, Power Pivot, and/or Tableau. Exposure to financial reporting, audit support, or technical accounting research.
