Shanghai, China | full time | Job ID: 11773 About the Role: As Director of Travel & Expense (T&E) Compliance for China, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and enhancing the compliance framework for employee travel, expense reimbursements, business hospitality, and event-related expenditures. Operating within BioNTech’s highly regulated biopharma environment, you will ensure adherence to corporate policies, local regulations, anti-corruption standards, and industry codes. Reporting solidly to the China CFO and functionally to Global FRA/T&E, you will act as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert while collaborating cross-functionally with teams like Finance, HR, Medical Affairs, and External Affairs.
This individual contributor role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence senior stakeholders and foster a culture of compliant spending while driving operational efficiency. Your Contribution: • Own and maintain the T&E compliance framework for China operations, aligning local policies with global standards • Design monitoring programs to identify non-compliance risks such as policy violations or misuse of company funds • Ensure all T&E activities involving Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Government Officials (GOs), or scientific meetings comply with regulations and industry codes • Optimize expense management systems like SAP and Concur by implementing automated controls and exception reporting workflows • Act as the primary point of contact for audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inspections related to T&E processes • Deliver compliance training programs that promote ethical conduct and responsible spending across teams A Good Match: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Compliance, or related field; MBA or certifications like CPA/CIA/CFE preferred • 10+ years of experience in finance or compliance roles within highly regulated industries such as biopharma or healthcare • Expertise in managing T&E compliance frameworks and financial controls in multinational organizations • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements for HCP interactions and business hospitality activities in China’s regulatory environment • Exceptional analytical skills with a risk-based mindset; fluent communication skills in both English and Mandarin • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority Your Benefits: Company Pension Scheme Childcare Jobticket Company Bike Special Vacation ... and much more.
