Your Role

M Lab™ Collaboration Centers provide a non-GXP process development and pilot scale lab environment for biomanufacturing customers to explore, learn, and collaborate alongside our engineers and scientists who work daily in the M Lab developing solutions to novel bioprocessing challenges.

The Operations manager position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Burlington, Massachusetts M Lab™ Collaboration Center working with the local commercial, innovation, EHS, and facilities teams to ensure maximum lab uptime, equipment and consumable availability, and exceptional site visit experiences consistent with our global network of M Lab™ Collaboration Centers. The person in this position will also be responsible for overseeing the management of two additional M Lab™ sites in Mexico and Brazil. Job responsibilities include:

  • Manage M Lab™ facilities, equipment, instrumentation, utilities, digital and AV technology, the Curiosity Hub, and laboratory users.
  • Process and fulfill lab requests while ensuring equipment, technology, and facilities remain operational and customer-ready.
  • Lead equipment calibration, maintenance, repairs, setup, breakdown, shipping, decontamination documentation, and vendor coordination.
  • Manage inventories, consumables, chemicals, spare parts, tools, suppliers, purchasing, and delivery tracking in line with procurement policies and project schedules.
  • Prepare basic chemical and biological solutions; maintain laboratory cleanliness and support all visitor scheduling, special events, employee tours, and lab user training.
  • Manage building interfaces, capital appropriations, and the laboratory operations budget in accordance with approved workflows and controls.
  • Lead EHS, security, emergency procedures, safety training, incident reporting, and participation in relevant safety committees.
  • Drive process improvements, communicate operational updates and trends, maintain product knowledge, collaborate across local and global matrix teams, attend required meetings, and perform other assigned duties.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or Technical Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of lab experience
  • 2+ years of lab management experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management skills and ability to adapt quickly to daily and weekly priorities in a fast paced commercial environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities to respond to the needs of a variety of partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience with laboratory operations including use of equipment and instrumentation including diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Process improvement and operational excellence skills and ability.
  • Reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues.
  • Proficient computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Prior experience with SFDC software a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership in improvement projects

Pay Range for this position: $88,900-$133,300 per year.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
