Job Summary (Primary function): The Director, Incyte Inclusion & Foundation leads the strategic direction, operations, and impact of the Incyte Foundation of both Incyte’s workplace inclusion efforts and the Incyte Foundation.
This role is responsible for advancing programs and initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace culture while evolving and executing the Foundation's philanthropic strategy, overseeing charitable investments, grantmaking, sponsorships, community partnerships, and employee engagement through volunteerism and giving programs. Serving as the Foundation's primary leader and external ambassador, the Director builds and maintains strong relationships with nonprofit organizations, healthcare institutions, educational partners, community leaders, and other key stakeholders. The role works closely with the Foundation Review Committee and cross-functional partners to ensure the Foundation's priorities align with community needs, deliver measurable impact, and reflect Incyte’s values and mission.
The role also serves as the connective leader across Incyte's global inclusion, community engagement, and Foundation-related activities, helping align efforts, share best practices, and strengthen the organization's collective impact. Reporting jointly to the CHRO and to the VP, HRBP, Corporate Functions and Global Talent Management COE, the Director provides strategic leadership for Incyte’s inclusion and philanthropic efforts. The role partners across the organization to strengthen workforce culture, community engagement, employee involvement, and Incyte’s reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities): Workplace Inclusion Strategy & Initiatives Lead the development and execution of Incyte's workplace inclusion strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational values, business priorities, and talent objectives. Partner with Human Resources, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to embed inclusive practices throughout the employee experience. Design and advance programs, initiatives, and educational opportunities that strengthen belonging, collaboration, and employee engagement across the organization.
Lead global inclusion governance, including cross-functional working groups and strategic forums, to drive alignment, accountability, and progress against priorities. Establish goals, metrics, and reporting processes to evaluate the effectiveness and organizational impact of workplace inclusion initiatives. Analyze workforce insights, employee feedback, and external trends to identify opportunities and recommend meaningful actions.
Collaborate with Communications and external partners to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of inclusion initiatives while incorporating leading practices and emerging trends. Foundation Strategy & Leadership Lead the ongoing review, refinement, and execution of the Foundation's vision, strategic priorities, and multi-year philanthropic roadmap. Identify opportunities to expand the Foundation's impact in areas aligned with community needs and organizational priorities while increasing connectivity, visibility, and collaboration across community and Foundation-related activities globally.
Lead the annual planning process, establish goals and success metrics, and monitor progress against objectives. Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership regarding philanthropy, community engagement, and social impact initiatives. Prepare and present Foundation updates, impact reports, and recommendations to executive leadership and governance committees.
Ensure strong stewardship of Foundation resources and charitable investments. Community Outreach & Partnership Development Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for the Incyte Foundation within the community, including representing Incyte at community, nonprofit, and Foundation-related events, as appropriate. Establish and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and community leaders, ensuring strong and effective partnerships that advance Foundation objectives.
Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strategic partnerships that advance the Foundation's mission and enhance community impact. Monitor emerging community needs and trends to inform philanthropic investment decisions. Build partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for employee engagement and volunteerism.
Develop and maintain a global view of Incyte's community engagement, philanthropic, and Foundation-related activities, fostering connections, sharing leading practices, and identifying opportunities to amplify impact across regions. Grantmaking & Foundation Operations Oversee all aspects of the Foundation's grantmaking activities, including application review, evaluation, approvals, reporting, and impact measurement. Manage relationships with grant recipients and ensure appropriate monitoring of funded initiatives.
Develop and implement processes to assess program effectiveness and community outcomes. Ensure compliance with Foundation governance requirements, policies, and applicable regulations. Partner with Legal, Finance, Compliance, and other stakeholders to maintain sound operational practices.
Oversee Foundation budgets, charitable investments, and related financial planning activities. Employee Engagement, Inclusion & Giving Programs Lead programs that encourage employee volunteerism, community service, and charitable giving. Partner with Human Resources and Communications to increase employee awareness and participation in Foundation initiatives.
Support and enhance employee volunteer opportunities, matching gift programs, and charitable campaigns. Foster a culture of community involvement and social responsibility across the organization. Communications & Impact Reporting Develop annual reports, impact summaries, and executive-level presentations that communicate inclusion initiatives, Foundation achievements, and organizational impact.
Partner with Corporate Affairs to elevate awareness of Foundation initiatives and community impact. Communicate Incyte's inclusion priorities, the Foundation's mission, priorities, and results to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency): Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MPA, MPH, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, or related field).
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in inclusion, culture, employee engagement, corporate philanthropy, foundation management, nonprofit leadership, corporate social responsibility (CSR), community affairs, public affairs, healthcare philanthropy, human resources or related fields, with experience and established relationships within the Delaware community strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing workplace inclusion, culture, belonging, employee engagement, or organizational effectiveness strategies within a complex global organization. Experience operating in a global environment, with demonstrated success connecting and aligning community engagement, philanthropic, inclusion, or social impact efforts across multiple regions and cultures.
Experience partnering with executive leaders, Human Resources, and business stakeholders to drive culture and inclusion priorities and embed inclusive practices across the employee experience. Proven ability to utilize workforce insights, employee feedback, and organizational metrics to identify opportunities, inform strategy, and measure progress related to inclusion, culture, and engagement initiatives. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives that influence organizational culture, employee experience, community impact, and corporate reputation.
Significant experience developing and leading inclusion, culture, philanthropic, or social impact strategies aligned with business priorities, employee engagement and community impact objectives. Demonstrated success overseeing large-scale grantmaking programs, charitable investments, and community partnership portfolios. Experience serving as a senior representative of an organization with nonprofit leaders, healthcare organizations, community stakeholders, government officials, and industry associations.
Proven ability to build and sustain strategic relationships that enhance organizational reputation and community impact. Experience working directly with executive leadership teams, boards, foundation trustees, or governance committees. Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives involving communications, public affairs, legal, compliance, finance, and human resources.
Experience measuring and communicating organizational and social impact through dashboards, employee insights, annual reports, and executive presentations. Strong financial stewardship experience, including management of foundation budgets, grants, and charitable investments. Experience leading teams and developing talent within inclusion, culture, people, philanthropy, social impact, or community engagement functions.
