Director, Strategic Planning & Operations Live What you will do Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, the Director, Strategic Planning & Operations (SPO) for Amgen’s Bone Health Business Unit (BHBU) will ensure the effective operation of the U.S.

Bone Health business while leading strategic initiatives critical to its growth and evolution. The SPO will report directly to the VP/GM, BHBU, and work closely with the BHBU Leadership Team (LT), Marketing, Sales, and cross-functional partners, including Market Access, Medical, Finance, Business Insights, Patient Services, Regulatory, Supply, and Global colleagues. This role serves as a strategic partner and integrator—supporting the BHBU operating rhythm; driving strategic planning, performance management, and governance; and ensuring business priorities are aligned and executed.

The SPO will provide direct operational support to the VP/GM and BHBU LT, manage key business processes, and enable effective collaboration across functions. In addition to core SPO responsibilities, the Director will lead strategic cross-functional projects that advance BHBU capabilities and performance, including AI adoption, operating-model evolution, commercial transformation, and improved ways of working. This position provides an outstanding opportunity to work with senior commercial leaders, gain broad visibility into the U.S.

Bone Health business, and directly contribute to strategies and operating practices that deliver value for patients. Responsibilities Include: Strategic Planning and Operations Support Provide strategic and operational leadership for BHBU, ensuring effective planning, prioritization, and coordination across Marketing, Sales, and cross-functional partners. Partner with the VP/GM and BHBU LT to support decision-making, execution, and alignment on key business priorities.

Lead and coordinate annual and long-range planning processes, ensuring alignment across strategic priorities, plans, and milestones. Manage the BHBU operating cadence and key forums, including LT meetings, business reviews, business-planning meetings, and town halls. Drive performance-management processes, including business reporting, insights, and action planning to enable timely decisions and course correction.

Facilitate Marketing–Sales integration, ensuring alignment between brand strategy, field execution, customer insights, and commercial priorities. Develop key presentations, reports, and communications for governance meetings, leadership forums, and planning sessions. Interface with Global partners to support appropriate alignment and information sharing.

Leadership of Strategic Projects Lead cross-functional strategic projects that advance the BHBU commercial strategy, operating model, and long-term performance. Drive adoption of AI tools and capabilities to enhance business efficiency, analytics, and decision-making. Identify and execute opportunities to strengthen cross-functional integration, agility, and execution through innovation and best practices.

Lead transformation initiatives that improve business processes, collaboration, and ways of working. Translate strategic priorities into integrated plans, clear accountabilities, and measurable outcomes. Anticipate emerging business needs and recommend solutions that improve planning and execution.

The strategic professional we seek is a collaborative, commercially minded, and forward-thinking leader with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree and 7 years of project management experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of project management experience; AND 4 years of leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources. Preferred Qualifications: Commercial biopharmaceutical experience, with demonstrated partnership across Marketing, Sales, and cross-functional teams.

Marketing experience, preferably at the Director level or with comparable strategic scope. Experience in Bone Health, osteoporosis, or a relevant specialty therapeutic area. Experience in sales leadership, launch excellence, lifecycle management, commercial planning, or performance management.

Experience in management consulting, strategic planning, or commercial operations is a plus. Experience leading transformation initiatives and applying new tools, technologies, or operating models. Ability to lead complex initiatives through influence in a matrixed environment.

Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder-management, and presentation skills. Demonstrated creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex business issues. The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
