About the Business Function: From molecule to market, Global Manufacturing plays an important role in every step along a product’s lifecycle. Most of our customers never see the scientific and technical resources behind our medicines.
But customers experience, every day, the performance of our high-quality products and global supply network. Global Manufacturing comprises a core group of functions that drives the production and supply of high-quality products: Engineering; Manufacturing Information & Control Systems (Technology@Lilly); Quality & Labs, Technology Services/Manufacturing Science; Global Health, Safety and Environment; and Supply Chain. Role: Senior LabVantage LIMS Developer This role combines domain expertise in laboratory processes and analytical methods with technical leadership in LIM configuration & Custom development.
The incumbent will play a key role in advancing the organization’s digital laboratory ecosystem, driving data integrity, automation, and compliance in GxP systems. Key Responsibilities Configure and customize LabVantage modules (including, but not limited to Sample Management, Batch/Lot Management, Stability, AQC, Storage, Environmental Monitoring, Formulations/Recipes, Study Management, ELN & LES, Workflow Administration, Security, Labels, Reporting and System Administration) to meet lab and business requirements Configure and support instrument connectivity and interfacing (e.g., SDMS, instrument data system connectors such as Empower), including instrument setup, maintenance activity scheduling, and connectivity setup Design, build, and maintain reports (Jasper or equivalent) and dashboards for lab operations and quality metrics Implement technical solutions for new business requirements, from requirements gathering through configuration, testing, and deployment Plan and execute LabVantage version upgrades and patches, including coordination with validation teams Support multi-site/global rollouts and master data management, including configuration migration across environments (e.g., using the Master Data Configuration/MDC tool) Troubleshoot production issues across the application, integration, and database layers; perform root cause analysis and remediation Develop and maintain integrations between LabVantage and enterprise systems such as ERP (middleware, REST/SOAP APIs) Document configuration changes, technical specifications, and support procedures in line with change control requirements Mentor and train internal team members on LabVantage development and support practices, building redundancy beyond a single point of expertise Build automation to reduce manual effort in access provisioning, deployments, and release activities Governance, Validation & Compliance Ensure compliance with GMP principles including 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, ALCOA+ data integrity, documentation, and change control. Maintain GxP/CSV compliance and documentation (develop/config specs, SOPs); support QA change control and periodic reviews.
Team representation in audits and ensure all development, integrations and automation meet regulatory requirements. What you should bring: Working knowledge of LabVantage’s underlying technology stack (Java, JavaScript, JSP, HTML5, Groovy, SQL, XML, JSON, JBOSS, GitHub, MuleSoft) and LabVantage APIs/web services, sufficient to extend configuration where out-of-the-box tools aren’t enough Strong relational database skills (SQL Server) schema design, query performance, stored procedures Experience with report development tools used in LabVantage environments (Jasper Reports, or similar) Experience managing system upgrades in a validated/regulated environment, including test planning and documentation Demonstrated troubleshooting ability across application, integration, and database layers Ability to translate business/lab requirements into technical specifications and configuration Strong communication skills; experience mentoring or training junior technical staff Experience integrating LIMS with ERP or other enterprise systems Experience with multi-site/global LabVantage deployments and master data migration across environments Prior experience as sole or lead LIMS developer supporting a global user base Experience using Jira and Confluence for backlog management, requirements documentation, and team collaboration Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science/ Instrumentation /Chemical Engineering / Analytical Chemistry, or related field. 8+ years of experience in laboratory informatics, preferably in the pharma, biotech, or chemicals industry 5+ years of industry experience (or comparable LIMS platform with a demonstrated ability to ramp on LabVantage quickly) Min 3+ years hands-on LabVantage development/configuration experience Demonstrated experience in CSV/SDLC validation knowledge LabVantage certification(s) or vendor-provided training credentials At Lilly, caring is not only what we do for patients.
